:By the way, where's the line? Exactly how far away from ground zero is far enough?

    Gehenna is about right.

It's not about political correctness. It's about not being ignorant and prejudice.

    Bullshit. It's about political correctness.

It was also 5 miles away from the Pearl Harbour attack
That's because the official scene is out to sea. There is a several mile long freeway that one must take to get to "Pearl Harbor."

Ya....and it was still 5 miles away. If the proposed Mosque was 5 miles away from Ground Zero, people wouldn't be complaining like they are.

Giving 1.5 billion worldwide who practice Islam the same label IS the definition of bigotry..........I saw the program and didn't see it that way (surprise). But so what if she doesn't give a f*ck.

Wow! So I'm a bigot because I don't think Islam deserves the time of day, but in your opinion, it's a-okay that this Muslim woman doesn't give a f*ck about the victims of 9-11 or their families?

    Constitutional rights trump everyone's interests.

Ya. I wonder if you'd feel the same way if your husband or son or daughter had been in one of the towers that day and never came home. Everyone's got Rights, but common sense has apparently gone by the way side.

This thread pits "liberals" vs. "Conservatives".

I think, like I said before, that having a mosque in that area is rubbing salt into the wound needlessly.

I agree. I think the same thing. A more sincere response would be an announcement such as "we abhor what our brothers have done. we do not condone it, and we offer our sincere apologies for what our brothers have done in the name of a God we both follow. Out of sympathy for those who suffered, we will move our mosque elsewhere. Please understand that we are not all in support of this."

Now at the same time, they probably also abhor what the US is doing to their people (the innocents being killed, the underhanded and/or greedy politics).

Its not a-okay - but so what if this woman thinks this way? = she does not represent the entire 1.5 billion members of the Muslim world.
