The thing is Tammy, there are as many interpretations of the Koran by different groups of Muslims as there are interpretations of the Bible by Christians. Imagine a group of Christians or Jews who still adhered to the laws of the Old Testament. Personally I think it has a lot to do with the country as well. Some predominantly Muslim countries are more secular and modern, consequently they are less extreme. Then you have places that are governed by the religious leaders. Trouble.

Yes, I gathered this, and its what has put me off doing it. But still, its a base - and then I might understand the different sects a little better. (Plus my husband wants to know what all the fuss is about since Cat Stevens converted )

yes that is stupid, that's why you have to reasearch it and not just assume.

I think citizens in a particular area should be able to decide whether they want a mosque or not. If my council allowed a kingdom hall near me i would try to get it stopped with petitions and whatever.

I'd also like to bring up the number of aussie shieks deported because of their extreme violent views. These are speakers who represent the majority of muslims. Islam is a disgusting religion. You can compare it to christians from 1000 years ago but remember, it 2010 not 1010.

don't you think its about time to evaluate if this faith should be openly practiced at all ?

There is such a thing as freedom of religion in America thats true just as it is in most modernized democratic countries,

there also rules and laws against a select group ( religious or not ) inspiring hatred and bigotry on to other people who do not follow

the select groups beliefs. It is a known fact that this particular faith inspires certain followers to commit horrendous acts of violence

all in the self proclaimed glory to Allah and the prophet Mohammad. Its for reason the Muslim faith should be banished from operating in

free democratic countries like the United States and elsewhere.

I can see why Americans would have an objectional view to having a Mosque built so close to where most of the tragedy of 9-11

occurred. But I also think its not just this one situation that has people so alarmed, its an accumulative amount of Islam all over the world

that is making think what a barbaric and dangerously backward religion this really is, especially in these modern times.

Its almost as bad as the Jehovah's Witnesses
