The Crusades were horrible, but they started over 900 years ago, and their stated purpose was the take Jerusalem from the Arabs for the sake of the Christians. The interests of the Jews, who had it first were not even considered when the Crusades started.

Certainly not, dear Daddy-O (peace to you!). Personally, I am of the school that nobody should be bombing anybody. For any reason. Especially when it means uninvolved women, children, and the elderly are the true casualities. But not all Muslims are approving, any more than all "christians" approve the retaliation.
And the sins of 1,000 years ago isn't really why most of those involved did it, is it? True, some of them were/are talked into thinking it was "jihad" (well, "we've" kind of fueled THAT fire, now, haven't "we"?)... but that really was just a "tool" used by the promoters and implementers to get young, stoopid, testerone-driven, so let me at them 70 (or is it 72?) virgins... hot-headed guys... and the young, stoopid girls who love them... to blow stuff up. Including themselves. I mean, it isn't like there's a lot of OLD Muslim men and women running around with C4 strapped to their torsoes.
And, besides, the "school" of "we did nothing wrong to them, how dare they attack us" thinking is a bit offbase, wouldn't you say? I mean, there are at least two other schools, at least... that say different.
One is that the attack was actually retaliation for what "Americans/Europeans" have gone around the world doing for centuries, and even more recently, taking valuable natural resources (like starting in the 40's and 50's when our INCREASING ENERGY CONSUMPTION... and fear of running out of "our" OWN oil... so "we" began to GREEIDLY stockpile "our" own so that "we" can charge "them" the price of a firstborn when "theirs" runs out... called for it)... from weaker nations for pennies, heck, rocks... on the acre/lot/barrel... so long as it supports "our way of life"... the "way of life" for the weaker nation be damned...
Or... that it really was nothing more than a distraction... with only a "few" casualties and since they were civilians, who really cares pay their families and be done with it... but now we have the presence in Iraq we NEED ('cause someone's got to do something about that Iran, 'cause, like China and North Korea, they ain't bowin' down to "us" and OUR "way of life", either!)... which presence Saddam Hussein (that no account "and-after-all-we-did-for-you-heck-you-wouldn't-have-even-been-in-office-if-it-weren't-for-us-so-what-do-you-mean-no-well-we'll-see-about-that-'cause-we-put-you-in-so-we'll-take-you-out... ingrate) refused to give, and look where HE is now...
American "hands" aren't clean around the world, dear one. They've never been clean... and you know this... because you're not a stoopid man, by any stretch. "They" just SAY their hands are clean... and "we" believe "them." Because we covet our "peace and security." Let the governments duke it out, so long as no one comes HERE. But if anyone's been paying attention, they know better. They may not like what they know... but they know.
Nobody should be bombing anybody. Or killing women, children, and elderly folks who have nothing to do with it. On either side.

P.S. Some of the most peaceful people I know are Muslims (rachafracha formatting!). I have to say, however, that that "70 virgin" thing doesn't seem very bright to ME - I mean, one tryst... and she's no longer a virgin. Right? So, what, you blow yourself up for 70 rides on the merry-go-round? One ride a day... and you're through in, what, less than 3 months? What is paradisical about THAT?? Unfortunately Farkel, that is exactly what is probably going to happen because of all the bleeding hearts who feel that 'political correctness' and ensuring 'freedom of religion' for absolutely everyone (no matter how screwed up and violent their religion and culture are), comes first and foremost (even, apparently, common sense), while they continue to ignore all the warning signs. I guess 9-11 wasn't quite enough to convince some that Islam is not a 'religion of peace' but have no fear as I'm sure there will be many more demonstrations down the road.

It was also 5 miles away from the Pearl Harbour attack. The proposed Mosque is 2 blocks away. Bit of a difference. While Muslims have the Constitutional Right to build their mosque, common courtesy and sensitivity should make them reconsider. Which of course, they don't wanna do. I watched a debate the other week on this. They had some conservative Christians, a fanatical Islamic wacko who basically said that more attacks are on their way and that Islam will rule the world one way or another, and they also had a few 'moderate Muslims' on there. It went back and forth, back and forth. The 'moderate Muslim' woman was specifically asked if she thinks it just might be common courtesy out of respect for the victims, not to build the mosque there but somewhere else. You could tell she was pissed off at being cornered like that, but she finally just stated "No. Our constitutional Rights is what must prevail."
In other words, this 'moderate Muslim' didn't give a flying f*ck about the victims, their families or anything else except her 'Constitutional Rights'. What is happening in America right now, is reminisent of the days just prior to WWII. Britian's Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain went to the ends of the earth to kiss Hitler's ass and was dumb enough to believe that appeasing der Fuhrer was the best course to take. Winston Churchill thought that was a terrible idea and that you couldn't trust Hitler as far as you could throw the bastard. Gee, guess who was right?
I guess it's going to take wiping out entire cities before some people get the message.

It's not about political correctness. It's about not being ignorant and prejudice. How is the Koran any more violent than the Bible to someone who isn't familiar with the "rationalizations" of each one's moderate branch?
Again, radical, militant Muslim sects don't represent ALL of Islam anymore than JWs represent all of Christianity. Try to apply some critical thinking instead of eating up what the conservative media is feeding you. This is understandably an emotional subject and I think that's obscuring reason for some.
Terrorist groups are the problem. If Al-Qaeda wanted to set up meeting center at ground zero that would be atrocious. But Al-Qaeda does not equal Islam.
I'm antireligious and I detest the negative influence that millillenia-old holy books have on people. But at least religionists have an excuse for their ignorance. Those who break free from such superstitious bonds should exercise freedom of thought with a little less prejudice.
