Hi the finger
This topic is about birthday and Christmas celebrations that Pagans do. Not various things you have against Jehovah's witnesses. BTW Christians have been preaching the nearness of "the end" since the apostles if we lied by your reasoning the apostles lied too.
Hi Aguest
Jesus was a Jew and he didn't break one Jewish law and Jews didn't celebrate Birthdays. Your appeal to mystery using that scripture as a loophole is very weak. If it needed to be known it would have been written.
Job was not a jew and it is not established that what is mentioned extremely vaguely in the book Job is actually a birthday. This is read into it.
Again celebrations of an actual event are not licence to annualise the event, choosing a date from the nearest Pagan religion and keeping it's practises because Jehovah in his omnipitence did not anticipate our need to know Jesus's birthday! or did he! In fact did he also know exactly what we would do with it? And this is why we have 4 gospels without even a clue as to the timing of his Birth.
If you need it to be written specifically then you miss the whole point of applied biblical principle which is what brings us as Christians beyond the Jews.
We live in Caesars world and Authority it is unrealistic that we won't have pagan roots all around us but we can and do reject actively being a part of caesars world and the celebrations he requires of us.
If you are so "free" why do you need to justify what the anointed who you claim as Brothers rejected and didn't do? Namely birthdays and specifically one of Jesus's Birth. They had a remembrance of Jesus instituted By Jesus himself and it wasn't the date of his birth.
You claim inspiration for yourself Aguest yet justify worldly practises looking for loopholes in scripture. hmmm.

Debator,
I think I commented on the birthdays and christmas. Maybe you should reread my comments. I think I made comment that when I was a child and asked what we celebrated when I said we didn't celebrate Christmas or Birthdays I would reply we celebrate memorial of Jesus death and when asked what we do I would say we had another boring meeting no presents. etc. and you commented in at one point not to be drinking of the cup of the Lord and of demons and I asked you what that is? Are you drinking of it? Which seems to me to be on topic.
I almost forgot the part about Santa and how although I wasn't raised with that belief I was raised with the belief at the young age that the end was about to happen and soon I would have large carnivorous animals as my friends and pets and my parents and I would never grow old. That seems worse than the Santa story don't you think?
And sometimes my kids would do that. When discussing what they have done they shift it to what someone may have said or done.

So Reniaa Debator. Are you going to do a response to me? Or are you going to just ignore my posts because you have no rebuttal to them? Remember: Jehovah's watching you!!!

I am not justifying what anyone does, dear Debator. One who is truly free doesn't need to justify. To the contrary, it is you who is trying to justify the additional "rules" and "laws" those you follow purport to put on others... while existing in bondage themselves. Again, all things are clean to clean people... which is WHY my Lord could do a good work on the Sabbath. What you don't appear to understand is that EVERY day is a Sabbath... a day to be held holy and on which we are to desist from our OWN works... a day of exquisite delight and one dedicated to God. This is because Christ... is LORD of the Sabbath.
And so, while we may desist from mundane things like celebrating birthdays (which bring no condemnation, either under the Old Law OR the NEW)... that we go around judging, condemning, speaking ill of... and expelling others... in and/or for what THEY do... IS a violation of Law, of the NEW Covenant. Indeed, it is hypocrisy, which, is the worst "sin"... save blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
I am sorry that my words... ummmm... "piqued" you, but hopefully they did so to the point that you with either (1) look into these things for yourself, if not (2) go to Christ, the Fine Shepherd... and ask as to these things for yourself. In the meantime, perhaps you can hear and get the sense of my Lord's words, when he said:
"You will know the TRUTH.... and the TRUTH... will set you free. Therefore, if the SON sets you free... you will truly BE free." John 8:32, 36
Again, I bid you peace... and ears to hear when the Spirit and the Bride say to YOU:
"Come! Take 'life's water'... FREE!"
YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,
SA

In Jewish life milestones are celebrated a little differently and your Mazel (good fortune) is important. In the Talmud, Avot, your milestones are at ages 5, 10, 13 and so on. Your final milestone is your Yahrzeit- Deathday, a celebration of you, towards the end of the service we will all place a handful of earth on your casket to remember you by.
The celebration Purim occurs in the month of Adar the month Moses was born in.
Rosh Hashanah is the celebration of the birth of Adam.
Passover is the celebration of the birth of the Nation.
