Wow, I don't really read much of Dj's posts, they seem to be very, well, how can I put it? I can't really find the word for them.

I have always thought of doing the "live and let live" in regards to how badly the JW's interpret the Bible VIA the WT, hey, if they want to believe what is NOT written ver what is, that is their problem.
My issues with the WT has always been more focused on the danger that they are to themselves and loved ones.
But after reading DJ's posts and seeing first hand the degree of "mind warp" that is there I have coem to understand why so many try their best to fight not only what this organization promotes that is dangerous to people's lives and health, BUT how they fight against the damage that this organization causes to people minds.
I suspect the length of the apologists' posts here are used to pad their Field Serve-Us Reports. I haven't the time to read them much like I never have the time to be a JW.
It is funny how the first chapter of Acts has been brought up, a capter that refutes at leats three main points of the JW's cliam to be God's "organization":
Lets look at verses 6 to 11 -
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” 9 And when he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
In those 6 verses we have Jesus saying that itis NOT up to man to KNOWANY of the times that God has decided on.
We have Jesus saying that after the HS comes upon them, they will be witnesess to HIM ( Jesus) to the whole world.
We have the angels ( Two men in white robes) telling them that when Jesus returns, he shall return ( from Heaven) in the same way he left (to heaven) and which was way that?
he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
Which tells us that he shall return "from the clouds" and ( As paul also sates) , all will SEE HIS VISIBLE presence ( And gaze on him who they have pierced).
So, we have in those verse that MAN does not and will now know that days that God has set, that Those the receive the HS will be CHRIST'S WITNESSES and that Christ shall return and he shall be seen.

"Simplified" calendars for religious and financial purposes have existed for at least as long as true astronomical calendars for civil and agricultural purposes. I don't think Leolaia pointed out that the ancient Jews had one to be argumentative.
Even today, if the objective is to calculate an amount of depreciation instead of a specific day out of the year, a simplified 360 day figure is often incorporated into the formula instead of a true solar year. (Excel actually has a function for that -- DAYS360) --Nobody would argue that 360 is not a much easier number to work with.
If you take the 365.242 days in a solar year and average them with the 354.37 days in a lunar year, you get slightly more than 359.8 days, which is very, very close to the 360 days required to derive the 2520 year figure from a period of "Seven times."I don't know if a JW would find that idea attractive or not. (It's Just a thought)
My objection is to the Protestant notion that the 360 day year derives directly from the postexilic Jewish calendar that Christians are familiar with from the NT. I'm not trying to be argumentative --at least not deliberately. From a Jewish perspective, it can't be emphasized strongly enough how important precision was. An error of even one day would cause them to desecrate the Sabbath. (One aspect of the friction with the Samaritans was the lighting of false signal fires for sightings of the new moon.)
