That is ironic! I left the Jewish religion and became a witness! My grandparents disowned me. They wanted me to become a rabbi and instead I ended up joining a cult!

    "My grandparents disowned me."

It appears that there is at least one more requirement in the jewish religion, in addition to those that moshe listed, ie, you can't renounce it and become a jw.

Anyhow, maybe they would let become a rabbi, now. That would fulfill your grandparents' wish, though they may be dead, now.

Good for him to find something with meaning and roots. My years studying Judaism were well spent. Like Moshe said you can find your own level or none at all. One of the great Aha moments as I left the Society was a visit to the Chagall museum in Nice France with his larger than life murals of the Bible Stories.

There courage to change and rethink their entire belief system was an inspiration to change myself.

    Shalom aleichem.

Moshe, didn't one of the rabbis in that old joke say that's what Heaven was? ;)

Listened to Craig Emswiller tonight- he is a Christian who is the pastor of a congregation that is has a thin Jewish facade, but Jesus is the reason for their meetings and they baptize followers in the name of Jesus or Yeshua. I wondered why six Screens was interested in Judaism- I found out they weren't.

Isn't christianity a subset of judaism?

@satanus-yes my grandparents (and my parents sadly) are dead. They would have been so happy to know I am no longer in the jw cult.

But Judaism is not for me. I did not want to be a rabbi. I'm done with religion.

"Being Jewish is what you make of it"

What about Messianic Jews? Not being disrespectful, just curious as to your outlook.

From what I've read, isn't being a Messianic Jew a bit of an oxymoron? It's like oil and water. Am I wrong Moshe? (I've been reading on the site link you posted. Very interesting.)
