    Thanks for your comments Tammy.

The Christians on this board, along with the sceptics, are decent people trying their best to make sense of being human. Coming to terms with the passing years. The joys and disappointments of life and the inevitability of death. I respect that.

Some people need religion, others alcohol or some other form of escape from the harsh reality of life. I have my own illusions and wish you all well with the choices you have made in life.

Whatever we believe, we are all in this together and at the end of the day I think it will make little difference. I would love to be proved wrong.

Just felt the need to type a few words. May your god or your vice continue to work for you.

    Trevor -

JIFB - Using Morpheus' 'free your mind' line is for the benefit of those who would understand THAT, using the powerful analogy that the movie represented - which most people understood as limiting one's mind meant limiting one's potential.

I'm just glad Jesus blessed the wachowski brothers to make a movie that would inspire those who hear God's voice to share lines from this science fiction ass-kicking violent movie to help us all love baby jesus. Praise the Lord - shoot the bad guys.

Now, I thought this concept was cute in an ironic sort of way, and I chuckled, but I figured you were just joking around or teasing.

(And its only the WT that says to stay away from anything with violence, or magic, or sex, or whatever... isn't it? Because we can find words of wisdom in all sorts of fiction works - no matter the genre. I LOVE it when fiction actually has a deeper point than all the special effects. Its how I hope to write as well.)

Okaaaayyyy, dear tec (the greatest of love and peace to you!)?? Here I am, all head-up over the fact that I had the FREEDOM to even watch the dang movie when it premiered some years ago - LOLOLOLOLOL! This time, I "On Demanded" the "Makings of the Matrix" movie the other night, you know, just as a walk back down memory lane ('cause I loved Keanu Reeves at that stage of his life... and Lawrence Fishburne since Apocalypse now... and was single and planning to marry them - yes, both of them, at the same time, sorry, but I have to tell the truth! ...) and nothing else (that I wanted to watch) was on, sooo... And here comes "Morpheus" with this great line! "Hey!" I says to myself, "Maybe THAT will explain it to the folks who keep asking me - elsewhere - what I 'mean'! It's simple enough, to the point, and has the same message!" (I had already mentioned it in another post, so... I simply repeated it in its own post. Oops... LOLOLOLLOLOL!)

Now, I realized, of course, that perhaps some Matrix haters (or Keanu/Fishburne/Shelby 'haters') were gonna pro'lly have a problem with it, but I didn't really care - such ones tend to always have a problem with something or another, including what I post (I mean, not just disagreeing, but an actual problem). And it wasn't really for them anyway, sooo, well, I liked the line, thought it was appropo and would be "enlightening" for some... (and it was)... and so I posted it. No "message from God" or direction from "Jeezus". Didn't even say what it pertained to. Just a 15-word quote... and Lawd havemercy! LOLOLOLOLOL! (Ain't people... interesting?)

Ennywho... oh, wait, I'd better get to dear Cofty (again, peace to you!) before dear Jay88 starts to melt (and peace to you, again, too!)!!

    Ok then little miss sarcasm

First, let me say that I was NOT being sarcastic, dear one. I really wasn't. When I get sarcastic, it looks something like my comments to dear tec, above. No, the truth is that I took your comment as being so and called you on your "reasoning" for "leaving [me]" to what you believe I misunderstand. I mean, you simply could have said, "Well, I disagree, Shelby, so I'll leave to believe what you do" or "You still have a wt inspired, unbiblical understanding of the death of Jesus but/so I will leave you to it." You didn't though... because you wanted to be sarcastic. So, perhaps you should consider turning that index finger around. In the meantime, we're A-OK as far as I'm concerned and absolutely NO worries from MY end...

why is your explanation soteriology identical to that of the watchtower

I disagree that it does, dear one. But so that I don't bore dear Jay88 (peace to you, as well!) any more than I absolutely have to, why don't you tell me what the WTBTS soteriologically believes (heck, do THEY even know??)... and I will respond with what I have come to know.

and completely disregards the central theme of the work of christ which is vicarious punishment, blood sacrifice and propitiation?

I have to admit that I don't understand this statement, particularly as it relates to "vicarious punishment." Can you expound on that a little more, please? And try to think of me as a "small child" when you do - I am a bit menopausal these days and so may not "get" it if you use really "big" words (like "soteriology"). Thank you... and, again, peace to you!

(How's that, dear Jay 88? Did you make it through? If not, no worries. I realize that paragraphs (and pages without pictures) do cause some to descend into a narcoleptic state. Caution: I'm thinking the one in response to dear Cofty's next post might turn out to be the "long" one, so if you can hang, please feel free to do so. If not... well, night-night, dear one. And, again, peace to you, too!)

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who was being sarcastic, this time... so please forgive (if you can/will) if I offend. Don't mean to (not maliciously, at least), but sometimes it can't be helped, can it?

Well, I loved the quote and absolutely think that it applies - though in truth I applied it to myself, and the fears that can limit me IN my faith, rather than apply it to anyone else.

One of the other works of fiction that I was thinking about when I said that we can get some words of wisdom from fiction of pretty much any genre was "Dean Koontz' Frankenstein". Reading those books gave me a glimpse into what it was like for a species to NOT have free will (SPOILER ALERT HERE IN BRACKETS: granted, Frankenstein didn't exactly care for or love his creations, other than that they serve him) And of course, the book you sent me is fantastic for the insight found within its pages.

    Peace to you,

(oh, and Kurt Russell has always been my favorite, btw... if we're talking about fantasy men here. My mother just shakes her head; says she can't get past seeing him as a kid in the movies that she grew up on.)

Which was all that was intended, dear one, but I know you know that.

LOLOLOLOL! I loved him (and Goldie) in "Overboard"!

Now, I would say what your mom said about Patrick Dempsey (although, I would say HE "grew up" quite... ummm... well - LOLOLOLOL!). My current heartthrob is... hmmmmm... well, now, wait... I know I have one... or do I??? Omigosh, I don't think I DO, right now! Oh, wait, yep, yes... yeah, I've just been reminded that I DO: that guy softly snoring over there in the bed - LOLOLOLOL! Snoring aside, he's HOT (fo' realz!). So, off to put in my ear plugs 'n join him, my dear girl! G'night and the GREATEST of love and peace to you and your entire household!

Your servant, sister, and fellow slave of Christ... all to time indefinite...
