Yet, still useful as a case study in unreasonableness for the lurkers and newbies.

    Zoiks speaketh the truf.

Here's my biggest concern for Alice: I think she has invested so much emotionally in trying to battle this forum that even if she somehow recognizes the truth... she'll be invested too deeply in JW stock to say as much.

Spade.... break away from this forum and take some time to do your own open-minded, honest research. Don't read anything written by the Society or former JWs like us. Do the legwork and figure it out for yourself. You clearly feel like the Society can't tell you what to do in private matters, such as which websites you'll visit. If you're confident enough to act independently there, why not act independently in your search for truth on this chronology debate?

    Spade:

"Does this joker ever provide a logical response to anything posted instead of going off topic and out on a limb making claims you can't back up."

How about starting with the logic of Matthew 24:36 that I just posted.

Also the logic in saying that Jonnson does not give a date on your pet peeve chronology issue does not mean that he is wrong. As I just said, the fact that someone does not have an answer to your question (assuming the question is valid) does not support your answer as being right.

It's like asking me to describe the color of your invisible pet elephant, with you claiming it's pink. Just because I do not give a color in response, does not mean that there is an invisible elephant of any color.

Black Sheep, now that you've decided to try and link these two forums, do you want me to destroy GiordanoBruno's argument?

How about you taking on Farkel and AlanF's challenges in the threads already linked to from this thread and making Farkel, AlanF and the rest of us look like a bunch of fools.

It's already been done on the other forum. Maybe Black Sheep can cut and paste Giordano Bruno's arguments. Better yet, let's click on the link you so thoughtfully provided and we can all go there and talk to him in person.

Still waiting for an answer to my next to last post.

    Spade, Alice, Whoever,

If you take 586 BCE as the date of the fall of Jerusalem, then 70 years later is 516 BCE. That's the 6th year of the reign of King Darius, the date the rebuilding of the Temple was completed (Ezra 6:15).

This ended the desolation of Jerusalem.

Thus, both the Bible (Daniel's 70 years: Daniel 9:2) and secular historians are in harmony:

Fall of Jerusalem (586 BCE) - Completion of 2nd temple (516 BCE) = 70 years of desolation of Jerusalem as prophesied by Daniel.

No contradiction between Bible prophecy and secular historical records at all.

The WTS is measuring from the wrong endpoint, which is why they got the wrong year for the fall of Jerusalem.

Don't be shocked that the WTS might be wrong.

We know they make mistakes in chronology.

They were wrong about 1874, 1914 (at the time, they said World War I was Armageddon), 1918, 1925, 1941, and 1975.

You can call it strictly a matter of Watchtower interpretation if you choose, but after Carl Jonson's interpretation a person is left completely clueless as to when Jehovah will intervene and act on behalf of human society

Keep thinking, there Spade - you'll get there...

    Here you go Spade.

    Be the hero.

    Grow a pair.

Take on Allymom's challenge (the same as Farkel's challenge) and show us all the mistake in a tabulated form, complete with references.

586/587 the K.I.S.S. approach --- no VAT4956, Ptolemy, Josephus needed

Scholar hasn't done it. Thirdwitness hasn't done it. Alice.in.wonderland hasn't done it. debator hasn't done it. Your own precious church hierarchy hasn't done it.

There's still a logical time frame a person can look to, for understanding when Jehovah will take action on behalf of planet earth.

The Gentile Times ended with Christ Jesus assuming Kingdom power and the expulsion of Satan and his demons from heaven. This fortifies us with the knowledge that a short period of time is left between Christ Jesus assuming Kingdom power and the day and the hour when God's purposes will be accomplished as in heaven, also upon earth.

And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God! And they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death. On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.” Revelation 12:7-12

Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. Matthew 6:10

We may not know the day and the hour, but there is knowledge as to the time frame when these things will occur.
