It is interesting there is a push to up the age for a driving license from 16 to 18 here in the US.

It's the parenting that is the problem not the kids. 2 years extra doesn't fix stupid it will just make it harder for the 16 year olds to have jobs they can get to. When I was 17 and a senior in high school I only went to a half a day of school and then I drove to an ROP place of work where they paid me. I wouldn't have had the means to do it if I didn't have my licence.

Laws prohibit alcohol consumption to those age 21 and over......

Some states prohibit one from purchasing a firearm until they reach age 18....

Some states limit a driver's license to those 16 and over, and some are pushing for this to be age 18....

One cannot join the armed forces until age 18.........

One cannot purchase tobacco until age 18......

One cannot see a Rated R movie without adult supervision until age 17.....

One can get baptized at age 10......

One can get DFd at age 16........

One can get reinstated at age 17....

Running mics again at age 18.....

    Appointed MS at age 24......

    appointed elder at age 30.....

no longer believes at age 33....

Do we still estimate that only about 50% of JW kids actually stay in the organizatio n?

The number I heard was 1 in 3 stay, 2 in 3 leave.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition. Only 37% of all those who say they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses still identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses.
  • I think anyone who was born into this religion, or spent significant time within a congregation that had young people, can testify to this statistic.

Troubled Mind, I caught the way that they said "We" can help him rather than Jehovah's spirit can help him..

When my youngest son got baptised @16 one of the MS came up to me and said, "Now we can REALLY help him ", WTF did that mean ?? What came in to my mind immediately was 'yeah now you guys can pressure him to conform because you will hold DFing over his head ' . What held them back from helping /encouraging him before ? ( i had tried to talk my son out of baptism )
