"Really, it's okay to reserve judgment until the evidence is in." - Carl Sagan
Many atheists would even believe in a God if they're show reasonable, logical, proof.
Exactly true, and I would say almost all of them would. Really they're agnostics but there are very few "pure athiests" who literally deny the existence of God.
Heart,
That is what most atheists like myself require. Proof. But it must be quantifiable, testable, peer reviewable proof. Science and scepticism requires that one change their stance when proof is provided. I would be first in line to apologize to god(s) for not believing, but I would also be willing to berate him for being such an elusive jerk about everything.

Great quote. Love me some Sagan.

So true, simon17
Baristaman,

Thank you. You said it so much better than I.

I'm sure you'd have to take a number for that one. I know I'd be in that line.
NomadSoul "But I'm a freaking nut too. I seriously believe that there must be alien life out there!"
It's all a matter of perspective. Humans are surface dwellers clinging to a globe that is spinning at 1000 miles an hour. Then look at the other weird collection of creatures that inhabit this planet. We are the aliens who are out there.
People with religion and belief in a heavenly life are simply hoping to come in from the cold and meet the big daddy in the sky. Sounds good to me - if only faith could be bought with hard cash I'd sell in a few shares and grab my piece of the action.
Trevor that is a good perspective. I haven't thought of it that way.
This whole subject came up while I was watching a youtube video "The Known Universe". About a few minutes there is the perspective of our Sun's brightness compared with other stars. If someone is flying by our sun, and the only technology they have is travel and don't use the same technology like us (Radio Frequency) then they just pass us by.
What if they're not looking for the same life as we know it? We look for planets that have water. What if they don't use water and they're looking for other type of elements.
I just hate the idea of someone just flying past us.
I also don't like the idea of us just being the only one out there. It's eerie.
Who the hell is the Flying Spaghetti Monster? I've read a couple of times and wondered.
That sounds like blasphemy right there.
In the event that you spoke in true ignorance, there is a chance for forgiveness. Read and learn, brother:
Damn, where the hell have I been?
