I was thinking that PP was actually being kind. It seems to me that it would be a bit cruel to let someone assume that they are on a pro JW site. Not only might they feel foolish, they might feel guilty. I think PP was right to point out that in general folks here at the very least doubting and at the very most, openly hostile toward the organization.

I am fairly certain that PP had kind motives. That is why I didn't attack him personally at all.

However, I believe the benefit of learning the truth about the Borg FAR FAR FAR outweighs the benefits of temporarily avoiding feeling foolish and/or guilty. We ALL feel foolish and/or guilty at times (especially at times like visiting JWN early on) and there is no good reason to place a premium on avoiding those feelings at the expense of our freedom of mind.

Looking back, would you have preferred to be shoo'd away from here (for the protection of your WT-spirituality or your feelings) or are you happy that you know what you know now?

I had to warn him before the usual suspects find this tread and start giving him hell. He seemed like such a nice a guy. Dan if you're looking for a site with active JWs in good standing, you may want to try www.jwtalk.net.

OK. But why did you have to warn him?

LOL He just came here to peddle his book.

So somebody else noticed it too...

    Hi Dan,

Please stick around and talk with us.

I like Jehovah's Witnesses very much, even though I disagree with a lot that the Watchtower teaches.

Does it seem odd that someone would look at this site with all of the subject headings and not conclude it is an xJW site.

We do seem to occaisionally get the JW trying to win us back and then there are some who just fake the whole 'I'm a real JW' thing. hmmm

    Time for a break...

There was an active witness popped in about a week ago introducing herself and mentioning her small business brokering little boy's suits.

I think we might be seeing a tipping point for internet activity by Jehovah's Witnesses. This site pops up high on google. An internet-savvy witness with a business on the side might fly through a few top sites looking for their market.

Mad I only meant for the first part of my post to be directed at you, because as you pointed out, the bolded portions were nitpickable. :-)

As for our freedom of mind, I believe that if a person is open to leaving the organization, they will. I don't think we "get people out", which I have heard said here before, "how many have you gotten out". That's like saying how many alcoholics have you cured. If an individual is of a mind, they will do it for themselves and no amount of outside pushing will do it if they are not.

In this case, Dan (we'll talk about the book plug later haha I do think that may well have been his motivation) appeared to be a faithful witness stumbling on to this site in error. I don't think being deceitful in a situation like that is going to make said believer think very highly of Xdubs. I'm proud that we are not the worthless immoral degenerates that they would make us out to be, and PP's warning was kind and honest.

Beautiful cover scene Dan, reminds me of Yosemite.

I support Phil, it was the christian thing to do or as I'd prefer to say the kind thing to do. That said I too find it a bit of a yank to come on this site and not realize what the various discussions are about:

Topic Headings: Went to my first ex-JW meetup last night! and What's The Most Effective Way To Reach JWs About "The Truth"? and

HOW MANY WHO ATTENDED MEMORIAL WILL NOW ATTEND AN EASTER SERVICE? 4
There was a very gorgeous sister at the Memorial.

Yes, he was peddling a book, and while I don't blame him for promoting his business, instead of finding a bunch of gullible witnesses, he stumbled upon one of the most sceptical audiences he could possibly imagine... he should stick around, there's a wealth of material here for his next book. ;)
