Thank you, Terry. I know a couple good peaceful people who are losing interest on this forum because of this issue. Sad when there is so much potential here.

Anonymity on the internet causes some to feel brave and say things they wouldn't normally say.
So a simple rule I try to use is imagine I'm communicating with my fellow posters face to face. This keeps you honest and will likely treat the other more respectfully.

for many their to long.
Yeah, I know, dear LD (peace to you!). Thankfully, there are a handful of folks here who can get through my posts and I'm grateful for that. For those who can't, I hope they know I totally understand and that they should feel free to read in increments, if they wish - LOLOLOL! I think, though, that for me to be briefer (more brief? less verbose?), I risk appearing blunt and rude. Which I'd rather not, if you don't mind.
Peace!

I've learned (from my Lord) that always opening and closing with a greeting of peace helps [me] in this regard, as well, dear Unshackled (peace to you!), along with remembering that I am the servant here. I mean, it really is kinda hard to go off on someone after you've just wished them peace in front of God and everybody. And even if they ticked you off, you find it easier to overlook if you remember that you're going to wish them peace again before you leave, as well. Helps to keep your regard (and love) for the person in the forefront of your thoughts. Which makes it easier to overlook/not take offense at slights... and forgive... even when slight is intended.
Again, peace to you!

If this thread gets any more hits, someone will start one called "How to Destroy a Thread and Turn it into a Battleground."
We should all learn to get along.

I just think some of you get too sensitive. I can understand that from the ladies, but from you guys? Come on, really?

Taking the time to understand why someone you disagree with believes what they believe goes a long way.
Liberals, conservatives, athiests, religious people including Jehovah's Witnesses, skeptics and conspiracy therorists all have reasons why they believe what they believe.
Those reasons include starting premises, a priori assumptions and axioms which may or may not be correct. These in turn lead to conclusions that may or may not follow.
Discuss the reasons. Substituting reason with false causes like "You believe what you believe because you're stupid or lazy or a racist or selfish or..." (Fill in the blank) is unproductive.

Terry talking to the rest of us:
So, I thought I'd give my two cents. What destroys civil discourse? How can we
moderate ourselves like adults and respect each other?
Terry in response to Sammie:
"If you understood half the time what you criticize you'd be more qualified to make an
informed contribution to the conversations you provoke."
Thank you for being an example Terry.

Terry, apologize to Sammie, or you get a JWN spanking.
