Eleanor Roosevelt wrote in a similar style but she was a lesbian.

I read that this is a thought not a fact..you have info saying it is a fact or just dreaming..there can be such a thing as a strong female relationship without it being sexual you know..

    Just saying..

Penicillin or other antibiotics were unknown until the 1930's, that's why previously many people died of infections which with antibiotics could easily have been treated and cured.

That account sickened me! Whats with the ''Brooklyn tabernacle'' and the ''London tabernacle''??????????

We want you to see how a great man of God can die

They made him out to be more important than Christ! Rutherford was a drama queen and thought himself to be above all other humans!

    Peace

I can see by the writting of Spurgean that he deff. was in awe of Russell. Probably because he and others already thought of him as some special messager (faithful servant). I Can see also by the writng that Russell believed he was in a privaleged position with God too, hence the white toga, i.e. robe.

Isn't it quite humorous how Sturgeon switches from 1st to 3rd person - "I watched him ... "We watched him ..." ???????

    LOL.

Also, Sturgeon mentioned that he lifted Russell's "soft, white hand" and said it was the greatest creed-smashing hand that had ever existed.

Russell said he didn't think that hand would be doing any more smashing.

The 1975 Yearbook account wisely left out the "soft, white" reference.

    Tee hee hee.

LOL, you are right syl. by "we" did he mean he and the Angels, or he and Jehovah? Parden me for saying but there is much to "glean" from this account isn't there?

there is much to "glean" from this account isn't there?

    Indeed.

I remember reading the 1975 YB and being a little unsettled in spirit.

    Now, I know why.

    Thank you, Jesus.

At one time I thought Russell was this self-effacing, self-sacrificing Christian who cared deeply for others.
Now, I see him as a sociopath, possessing a mock humility and caring nothing for friends or family.

When I first joined this forum about 5 years ago, I saw a lot of comments like Sylvia's first view of Russell - it was almost the popular opinion that Russell was good, but Rutherford was a bad man who ruined everything. Yes, Rutherford was astoundingly bad, but that does not make Russell good.

I complained about this back then - I always saw Russell just like Sylvia's second statement. You can hardly read the divorce records or his internal fights with fellow Watchtower leaders and think differently. And he certainly was guilty of the initial obsession with numerology and created the foundation false prophecy that the whole WTS doctrine is still based on.

It seems that the popular opinion on this board is changing to that view as well - I don't see nearly as many pro-Russell comments as I used to.

Or, maybe it is just me - but that is my personal impression.
