“I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I was raised as a Witness. For a time I doubted whether this truly was the best way of life. So, I read a large amount of opposing and apostate material on the internet, a lot of which was here on JWN. I have seen every apostate talking point out there. Because I found the views of apostates logically deficient, I decided to put my convictions under the hardest test I could think of, which was posting on the above mentioned forum and writing the above mentioned blog. I now am more convinced than ever that Jehovah's Witnesses are God's organization on earth today.”

Examining claims for logical soundness is a means of digging for sound information. Pursuit of sound information is a proper hunt for treasure, and one for which encouragement is found in the biblical text.—(Prov. 2:3-5)

In your participation here try not to be sidetracked by the ignorant sideshows performed by idiots of either pro or anti-Watchtower bias, which is everywhere on forums like this. Keep your eye on the prize of knowledge gained by sound analysis of verifiable information.

As a pendant point, the hardest test to which a person can expose their convictions is not to other humans, but rather to the heat of logical analysis. Any given individual may or may not understand logical construction, but notwithstanding that person’s deficiency, logical construction remains the test because the method neither holds nor knows bias, neither does not change because of bias, and soundness of thinking is the single solitary objective. In the end some folks can handle this test of their personal convictions, and some cannot. Some end up rationalizing preferential beliefs despite the result of logical analysis.

I look forward to reading your contributions.

I firmly believe that if there is a god out there I have improved my chances of survival no end by walking away from this religion. Initially I wanted to believe they were right and when wrong that it was down to human imperfection. I also believed that any religion that called themselves "the truth" should speak truth and be vigilent in assuring that only truth was spoken or published. You say you are firmly convinced then I can only assume that you are lying about your level of scrutiny or that you are happy to be lied to and think it acceptable.

    Welcome to the forum!

Please invite your friends and family at the Kingdom Hall to join us, here. They, too, could benefit by exposing themselves to differing opinons.

May you never fear the pursuit of truth!

In StandFirm’s post number 3 found on page 1 of this discussion, StandFirm writes:

“I don't believe that the organization states that sites like this must be avoided when one already is familiar with the ideas presented.”[1]

Believing something does not make that something logically valid. I encourage that you expound on the notion quoted above to prove that that belief of yours is sound.

Moreover, I recommend that you compose and publish an article on your blog[2] that both expresses and explains that particular belief you share with folks here.

Welcome! I think ex-jw's are more open to different ideas. We don't clame to know it all like JW's are told they do. I hope the best for you and Hope something you read will open your eyes to the reality of the religion. The fact you are here gives some hope.

Welcome to the forum StandFirm. I have to say, you're one of the only proWT posters I've seen register here that is respectful and humble. Glad you're here, and I hope everyone else here affords you the same respect you've displayed since posting here.

okay.....lets be realistic here, Standfirm you may have some 'self-justifications' but in the end no JW should be here unless they are DFd (and unrepentant) or DAd..... We are all equal in our disobedience on this matter (independent thinking).

I would hope the forum would keep directed in discerning just how much Standfirm actually knows about our Organization and beliefs. I have no doubt she is sincere in her endeavors so lets discern what she knows before anyone attempts to debate her...

Lets start of with the most basic of questions:

    Dear Standfirm,

Can you state the definition of what exactly is our 'truth' or 'gospel' ? (it can be found on our WTCD).......
