Well, isn't Harry a ray of sunshine.

I dare him to go door to door with that message!

SCMUCK. He makes my blood boil.

Harry Har a JW states on 9/19/09 - " Having been an elder with them for over 30 years I can only say it's all vicious lies. The majority of this earth's population will soon be destroyed by Jehovah and we will be picking up your bodies. The End is very, very close and soon all of you liars, fornicators, etc. will be gone...... forever ! Hope I don't throw my back out picking up your bodies and your children and grandchildren . "

    At least Harry is honest.

If all JWs cut to the chase and told people that if they don't become Witnesses they will be destroyed, the birds will pick their eyes out, and their homes will be occupied by those at the door speaking, they'd at least know the true face of the Watchtower!

IN fairness to JWs, most serial murderers and rapists belong to religious denominations. Witnesses never taught it was all right to kidnap and rape.

To me, the point is that JW's are no better than any other religions. "The truth" that they teach doesn't make them less likely to be serial murderers or pedophile rapists or change those habits after conversion, but they spew out the garbage at conventions that their members come from the gutters of society and changed. Sure, some have done that, but it was the cult acceptance that changed them, NOT GOD. So they can easily go back to their old ways.

They fornicate, cheat on spouses, get drunk, do what people from all groups do. Phillip may or may not have believed the WT doctrine, he may have just wanted to marry and use the supposedly clean lifestyle in his plans to get out of prison. But NANCY. Nancy should never have started a relationship with a "worldly" guy, let alone Phillip. She should have run to the police during the early stages of this debacle. "The truth" should have motivated her to do the right thing about Phillip.

And the problem of child abuse, well- Barbara Anderson has helped us see how the WT treatment of this crime has made it worse among JW's. All the thinking that "we don't want to bring negative light to Jehovah's organization" is such crap. Protect the children and let Jehovah care for His organization's reputation.

It was a very shocking case but raises some key issues. I agree with the point that this man was deeply disturbed for many years and the JW religion was probably not responsible for his mental problems that made him carry out the kidnapping. However if this man was an elder he was supposed to be appointed by holy spirit, since Jehovah can read hearts why did he not prevent this mans appointment?

Also how did he remain undetected for so long and why did Jehovah not bring this to light? JWs are told that Jehovah will sort things out in his own time but if ever there was good reason to do something then this would surely be it. Why did Jehovah choose to ignore this girls suffering since the length of the captivity and level of abuse can only bring greater reproach on the congregation and Jehovah.

It is also true that despite long association with JWs and their teachings he seemed to feel no remorse and took no actyion to end his victims suffering despite hearing many talks on christian principles. In this instance there was no indication that the Bible changed him in any way.

Whilst the religion can not be condemned on the basis of one madman it certainly has a case to answer.

I don't want to steal your thread Flip . . . but even down here in little ol' New Zealand (pop 4M), our worst ever serial rapist spent years associating regularly along with his JW wife . . .

Joe Thompson (South Auckland Serial Rapist)July 1995 - Joseph Stephenson Thompson stood before the courts to answer 129 charges and a total of 61 sexual violations. His reign of terror spanned a decade, his victims, the woman of South Auckland, his plea "Guilty" to all charges. Thanks to break through DNA technology, finally the South Auckland Serial Rapist was behind bars.

On April 26, 1995, Thompson was contacted for a blood sample, as were many others on the list. Thompson told the detective that due to his Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs he was unable to give blood. He was convinced to provide a saliva sample instead but didn’t appear for the test and was apparently off work sick. Two policemen traced him to his home and took him in for testing. Although he had tried to sabotage the test by smoking directly beforehand, the saliva test was Thompson's undoing.

He was a regular meeting attender and used his cover as an unbaptised publisher to case victims homes in some cases. The JW's quickly distanced themselves and refused to comment when he was arrested.

nugget's observations certainly apply in this case also.

TALESIN- Great job by you and Kwin in 2005 in exposing the JW's faulty child abuse policies ! And informing JW's about it. I stuck a bunch of JW child abuse news releases in windshields during that time period as well. Anything we can do is a big help in exposing faulty child abuse policies within the WT society.

HEAVEN- Very good point you make " Forgiveness can only go so far. " And THAT is the point with these child molesters. They cross over a line where the damage they have done in raping the inner souls of those children they've molested - the damage cannot be undone. Many times even with professional counseling child abuse victims are damaged for life from the crimes committed against them. And the WT society just does NOT have a good understanding of this.

AUSSIE OZ- I agree with you. I'd love to face someone like Harry Har in a dark alley and work him over a bit. He needs to have his pie-hole slammed shut. A real pompous JW elder for sure.

QUANDRY- He may be honest in telling people about Armageddon and the JW's real view of it, but Harry Har is nothing more than a conceited JW apologist claiming child abuse doesn't happen in the JW's and that it's NOT tolerated. So he IS dishonest regarding child abuse . It IS tolerated inside the JW's. And not dealt with properly.

OTWO- Exactly. Good points. It really does show that JW's are no better than any other religion as they do have all this wanton garbage happening constantly among their ranks. I agree that Phillip Garrido used Nancy Garrido to get access to children and get early release from prison. And Nancy was just as culpable because she never should have contacted Garrido in the first place if she was a " practicing Witness ". I guess she made her bed and is laying in it now, eh ? Jeez.

NUGGET- Good point you bring out. If Jehovah was really running congregations through holy spirit - wouldn't it have revealed that Phillip Garrido and Nancy were abusing children for years ? It shows how a person can hide and mask who they really are within congregations ! AND that the JW elders do very little to stop it ! I don't believe Phillip Garrido was ever an elder though. But I have heard of many elders who WERE molesters ! Even GB members !

SIZEMIK- Thanks for sharing this experience from your area of the JW molester who abused over 60 victims. And the WT society's and JW response is typical to distance themselves from this person after he got arrested. So typical. Jerks.

RAGING BULL- Good point. I guess Garrido tried to start his own cult after exiting the Witnesses. I'm glad it didn't get off the ground as their would have been many MORE child abuse victims if he had succeeeded starting a cult. Glad this monster and his wife are off the streets ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
