If Republicans are so sure they can win the vote, why do they keep passing laws making it hard for Democrats to vote?

  That process was completed on November 26, 2000 when the Secretary of State certified the results of the election. Scotus did not issue it's opinion until Dec 12.

  If you want direct election of the President, you should amend the Constitution.

  And republicans seek to suppress as many votes as necessry to elect their candidates. Actually that part is probably pretty normal. The question is the means being used. Outright voter suppression is immoral. These new elections laws DO NOT seek to prevent voter fraud, because as I've said that process should have been completed during the registration process--they seek to suppress votes.

  Traditionally Dems do better with more votes and Pubs do better with less. And specifically targeting democratic voters makes this sleazy move even more effective.

  Honestly if they are so sure they can win the elections, why are they doing this? Fear I suppose. And for good reason. The status quo is no longer sufficient. I expect some major changes soon, and I don't see Republicans coming out on the winning end.

  When I hear Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan speak I get the feeling they want a 1950's McCarthy Era to start up again. For the old guys like cousin Mitch McConnell its their last hurrah to give back to the cronies that kept them in Office for Decades.

  Jeff you are proving the point that the Republicans are so partisan and ideological, that they are incapable of honesty. Essentially what you are saying, is that the corrupt FL SoS and the corrupt FL election officials, and the blatant election fraud, should not have been challenged. Once they were challenged, they took it a step further, and brought in the corrupt SCOTUS to hand over the decision. I watched every moment of those events unfold.

  You know, why do you think those New Black Panthers were out there last election? I'm sure you buy in to the "voter intimidation" story, even though not a single voter complained of such. Even though the precinct was predominantly poor, black, and Democrat. They were there because of REAL voter intimidation by the right wing Rovians who had been pulling that crap for several elections. Yes they were wrong in their attitude, but they were right in their purpose. And who comes along, but a FOX NEWS operative to stir up shite.

  What you mean is, if they are so sure they are speaking for the majority of Americans. Which is what they keep saying as they do absolutely nothing that the majority of Americans are asking for.

  That's exactly what I mean. LOL Thanks Beks. It's okay though, we are going to win this one. They have shown themselves for what they are. They have revealed their true loyalty. They have signed pledges to organizations that they value more than their pledge to represent the American people. They have pledged their alliegiance, not to America, but to Grover Norquist. And they have proven the when it comes to destroying our country, they choose the Norquist pledge over America. In a lot of ways they are traitors, and they have been exposed. I'm excited for elections! LOL

  America has never wanted people to vote....Why do we continue to vote on tuesday with no holiday? Most countries choose sunday or make it a national holiday. Why did it take so long for women to vote and for blacks to get the vote? Why do we still have the electorial college? Gore won by 500k votes in 2000(and in most recounts in florida he won as well). WE DONT WANT PEOPLE TO VOTE. This 'democracy' does not really want us to vote.
