If Republicans are so sure they can win the vote, why do they keep passing laws making it hard for Democrats to vote?

Beks, SCOTUS decided a point of Constitutional law, they did not crown Bush President.
The Constitution assigns a plenary power to create a process for picking electors to the state legislatures. The Florida courts did not have the authority to create a different process - recounts of selected voting districts, that violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution. We do not know what SCOTUS might have decided had the courts ordered a recount of the whole state, except that it might have been moot as the legislature was about to pass a bill exercising that plenary power to assign Florida's electors to the Republians.
Here is the text of the decision:

I would welcome a discussion based on facts. Talking about the "will of the people" is irrelevant, if you want the will of the people to prevail, you need to amend the Constitution.
Incidently the Pittsburgh Pirates won the 1960 world series 55-27. Due to an obscure MLB rule regarding distribution of runs in the seven game series the Championship was awarded to the New York Yankees. Pirates fans are still pissed off.

An additional thought, here are two other Supreme Court decisions that almost certainly went against the "will of the people:"
Brown v Board of Education
Roe v Wade
Would you prefer that court decided those based on the Constituion and the Law, or what people thought they wanted?

You are focusing on the electoral college for some reason Jeff. That is not at issue here. FL ordered the recount, the SCOTUS stepped in and made a partisan decision. Just as they did recently in the Citizens United case. They ruled broadly for partisan reasons.
They were involved because Bush sued for equal protection. Suggesting that he would incur "irreparable harm". How can determining the will of the people be cause for irreparable harm? How about the fact that they halted the count, then waited three days for a ruling and then pronounced that the vote had to be finalized by the next day?
The pre election attempt at theft was bad enough in FL. This thing was dirty from start to finish. LOL which should be pretty evident 10 years later. The most corrupt administration in our history.

I'm focusing on the electoral college because that is the Constitutional method for picking the President.

We have entered the Twilight Zone. It is the final Frontier just beyond La La Land.

Good point Glander. Well supported and insightful. I suppose you pondered for quite a while to come to your conclusions. I don't personally believe in a Twilight Zone. I thought the Final Frontier had something to do with outerspace, but some people like to mix their metaphors. To each their own I suppose.

NC,
Somehow, I think we can communicate and post without snark and snide. I will try harder. But I would like to respectfully draw your response to my question.

This is not and never was an electoral college question. It was not about popular vote, it was about the events in FL. You obviously know that. -
