'spiritual' = cult loaded language and also 'mystical manipulation' in my opinion. It's an 'appeal to authority' i.e. Joe Hoover!

It's a tool for 'judging' your fellow man. A label that can be slapped on either positive or in a negative way.

100% CULT! Yep! Cult for sure!

That couple on that WT magazine cover shouldn't be making that kind of bodily contact during field service, it might make a brother stumble...

Alfred - Why are they in coats on such a sunny day? Perhaps it hides their 'spiritual' armour!

I'd like to see the term 'spiritual' as used in the Bible as opposed to the way the WBT$ cult uses it. That'd be interesting!

They want my resume? The last time I even pretended to do field circus was June 30, 2005. The last time I was at a boasting session was the REJECT Jesus Party of 2005--the time before, in December 2004 (when a heat blackout in the back room led to the book study being cancelled). The last time I went to a regular boasting session other than a book study was sometime in the early spring of 2004. And, my field circus time between then and 1998 averaged around one lousy hour a month, usually doing fake service (the time was real but I pretended to care, dogging calls and placements.)

Music I listen to? Rap, heavy metal including Led Zeppelin, Christmas music. Including religiously biased pop and Christmas music.

I also visit apostate web sites including this one on a regular basis. Additionally, I have my place full of Christmas decorations all summer (in the northern hemisphere, when Christmas is the first of winter). I think nothing of doing anything that constitutes celebrating Christmas--and that includes Christmas where I live as well as in other parts of the world where people use strawberries and kiwi fruits in shortcakes and other desserts to celebrate Christmas. As for donations to their functions, I spent my "excess" money on investment silver which is "too worldly". (And will hold up in the event of hyperinflation.)

Attitude? I don't think anything the Washtowel says is accurate. Their rules are stupid, and I believe children should be properly educated. And "properly educated" does not mean the Theocraptic Misery or Value Destroyer Training "Schools(??)", but completing high school and college if reasonably affordable, and learning a trade or starting a business otherwise. Vacation time is to be enjoyed, not wasted doing field circus. (For both children and adults--who wants to go visit New Zealand, Australia, Paris, or Disney World only to be burdened with boasting sessions and field circus). Music is none of anyone else's business except those who choose to listen to it (and those who are forced to, if played at excessive volume). You are entitled to watch whatever you damn well feel like. And, I don't give a fxxx if someone has a "problem" with masturbating because that is not my problem. Nor is someone choosing to be gay or bisexual my business.

Are they still interested in wasting their time trying to train me?

What the Watchtower means by "spiritual" could be translated as "an unquestioning stooge".

Of course it wouldn't cross their mind that if they are having trouble finding men to do their dirty work maybe they should put some of the women in the congregations in positions of leadership.

Couldn't help chuckling about the comments concerning looking for elders who have the spiritual qualities found in Galatians 5:22, 23.

I happened to give an elder a ride home one day right after he had attended a judicial committee meeting. The problem wasn't severe, but was primarity a thing where the one before them needed some guidance and was looking for help. His distain was obvious, and he concluded: "I feel like I've been eating dirt!"

I pointed out that his position was much like a doctor being approached by a patient who was sick and needed medical attention. Then I asked, "Would you prefer going to a doctor who was primarily concerned about your health, or one whose prime concern was that they not get their fingers dirty?"

I wasn't too long after that that I was disfellowshipped.

Oh they are desperate all right. It's a freaking joke. I have seen some elders appointed in the last 10 years that have no business handling microphones let alone "taking the lead". Some of them meant well; but those that did were woefully out of their depth intellectually. I know an elder in my hall who has been an elder since 1974 when the arrangement was instituted. I was in his book study group for 10 years at one point. Now this guy is great, very easygoing and very smart. Dosen't get wound up about stuff, and gives a pretty good talk. However, I have NEVER been to a door with this elder, nor in the 30 years in this congregation have I EVER seen him take a door with anyone else. EVER. He would just drive around "checking" on the others in the service group in the territory and then take others to their calls. Now I really don't care, but when I was told that I had to get the cong average at minimum or I wouldn't be considered again for ms I just laughed. I worked at a bank for 10 years and was told plainly: you don't get your monthly sales? No chance for promotion. End of story. Hmmmmmm sounds familiar? Now this elder as far as I'm concerned didn't ever really go out in service...but there he was an appointed elder. Why? Because they have been hurting so bad for brothers that the last thing they would do is remove an elder for gun decking his hours. Anyway that's my rant.

    Have a great weekend everyone.
