Isn't it marvellous what that Report Card column marked "Total Hours" will achieve for a person - or not achieve, if the figure is not large enough!

The WBT$ needs Elders..
If you have the IQ of a Turnip and are willing to do anything we say..
Your our Man!..
...........................;-)...OUTLAW
Do you have an awful job?
Do you suffer from low self-esteem?
Do you love to have power over everyone?
WE WANT YOU! REACH OUT, BROTHERS! (suckers.... )
Sounds like a boys' cult from the 50's.
No girlz aloud!
Hey, they forgot to add the "package" as a requirement.
As it's written, except for the "man" words, I qualified as an elder and or ms.
I think Outlaw is absolutely right. It's all about obedience and becoming a floor mat.
Where else can Janitors and Window Washers get positions of authority?
Bangalore
Been working a lot. Thanks for your comments ! I'll finish pg. 1 and answer pg. 2 as I can while cooking food.
MRMONROE- Exactly- Complying with directions and getting field service hours in were very important in getting appointed as an elder or MS. I once had an elder tell me that I had to shcmooze up to and get closer to prominent elders in my congregation in order to get appointed. He said , " Don't bother getting close to brother 82 year old elder- he has no say as to who gets appointed. " After that- I never bothered to reach out again as I knew it was all politics.
SKEETER- Good points. WT society does reward those who push their ideas- it doesn't matter what character a person has or how kind they are. The company line just has to be followed- that's the main thing. Peace out, Mr. flipper
Since we left we have seen an abusive brother and an alcoholic brother appointed elders. What changed over 10 years, nothing. They still have the qualities that "disqualified" them 10 years ago. But they had only 6 elders, one stepped down, one was removed (not obedient to the other elders) enough, and 2 moved away. With only 1 MS (no new ones over 10 years), they had to appoint these men elders. There are 6 ex-elders who will never agree to being elders again (they all stepped down by their own choice).
Men men men men manly men men men...
It's such a pity, the society has a veritable army of single pioneer sisters who would absolutely love a bit of status to help out the congregation. But no penis means you can't do accounts, count the attendance, do the mikes...
LV 101- You're welcome. I do hope the number of elders keeps going down indeed. We can only hope.
PUNK OF NICE- Good point. WT society's term " spiritual " IS a " tool used for judging your fellow man ". Very well put- I agree.
ALFRED- Hilarious. Perhaps the couple on the WT cover are having bodily contact because they're married ? LOL !
WTWIZARD- I take it from your comments - you aren't interested in reaching out for ministerial servant or a elders position. Pretty funny. Like yourself I have pretty much detached from ANY expectations any authority figures wanted me to do in the JW cult. I am no longer intimidated by elders or any other positions of power in the WT society. I get the feeling you feel the same from your post.
BESTY- It is weird, isn't it that the WT society describes physical labor as " spiritual " ? They are so bizarre.
I QUIT- The WT society would probably be better served if they DID put women in as elders , MS, and Circuit Overseer positions. Women tend to be much more empathetic towards other people's problems. But the WT leaders are so patriarchal and chauvanistic in their attitudes towards women - they'd never think of letting that happen.
LONE WOLF- Interesting experience with the elder you drove with. Sounds like he was burnt out on being an elder. Sounds like he may have talked with other elders about your comment ; seeing how you were DFed fairly soon thereafter. They were mostly all weasels.
QUIRKY- Don't worry about it. Most of the elders are like the Three Stooges too- they are " thinking and nothin' is happening " either.
KENSEI01- Interesting experience. I think there are lots of elders like you mention who try to half-a$$ their way through their congregation responsibilities and functions just to retain the position. And indeed the WT society is stooping pretty low these days dragging guys from the bottom of the barrel to be elders. Pretty funny actually- seeing them sweat it out. They are losing all their good people.
BUNGI BILL- Exactly. Getting those hours in field service was a big requirement for getting appointed elder.
OUTLAW- Indeed, being the brightest bulb or being the sharpest tool in the shed is NOT a requirement to be an elder. Just obey. It's all WT society wants out of these guys.
SHAMUS- Good point you make. Lots of JW men reach out to have power over others because they suffer from low self esteem and have no authority in their secular jobs perhaps in the real world. But as you say- they are just being used as suckers.
WHITE DOVE- Indeed having a " package " would be a requirement. Although it's debateable how much " package " some of these elders have. I think many of their " stones " are very small indeed. It's about the size of it. No pun intended.
DGP- You got that right. Being obedient and being a floor mat is all the WT society wants in elders. Exactly.
BANGALORE- Very true. Janitors, window washers, trash collectors , working at McDonalds - I mean imagine WHO JW's are having judge them at JC meetings ? It's mind boggling when you think of it.
BLONDIE- Good example you give. So many ex-elders ARE becoming ex-elders due to choice because of the pressure they were under in that position. So indeed , WT society is scraping the bottom of the barrel by appointing former or currently abusive and alcoholic men to positions of elders. They'd appoint messed up, screwed up men - before ever appointing a good woman with a wise head on her shoulders. It's the arrogance of the organization. Really messed up
