Was the snake or serpent created perfect, God saw it was

good. So if the serpent or snake(presumably innocent)

had been possessed by satan and it was satan doing,

why should the snake be punished. It,s clear that snake

was punished, he lost his legs and had to crawl on it,s

    belly and eat dirt.

One of the accounts' objective in the story of adam in eve was the demonizing of the serpent. Many contemporary biblical scholars now believe that since the genesis account was created around 500 BC an effort was made by the scribes who penned this account to purge the polyestic beliefs israel has. (Jews started as a polyestic culture.) Serpent worship was so common in the land of canaan and was even practiced by the jews early in thier history- the god representing wisdom and healing. Clues about such practice can even be found in the scriptures today. Moses' rod can turn into a snake. When numerous isralites were bitten by snakes Moses made a huge copper serpent for all to look at and be healed. The Serpent was one of their gods before.

    Just a thought! :)

    dear jam...

God gave free will to all His creatures with a reasoning ability. because snakes are more clever than other animals in that they will lie in wait for their prey doesn't mean that they have free will in the same sense that we do...they only eat when they are hungry.

satan has free will too and he is always seeking out his food to devour...he needs a body more willing to give in to desires of the flesh.(pride is a desire of the natural or flesh man. 2 corinthians 12:20)

the serpent had not only free will but smarts to tell the truth.

if you read the account you will see in the later verses god confirms that what the serpent said was true(after he kicked adam and eve out.)

What possible advantage does so-called "Free" Will give something you create?

A light switch on a wall with "Free" Will would drive you nuts, wouldn't it?

Imagine trying to coax the lights on by appealing to its sense of reason and fairness!

If God created anybody or anything with a purpose in mind it would be entirely contrary to outcome and a blunder for "Free" Will to be a part of it.

The number one cause of problems among humanity is having the freedom to NOT do what is best for us.

On top of all that, have you ever considered this: If your Free Will has been damaged by "sin", why would God expect you to exercise that same Will by choosing to accept Jesus?

That is like asking a Midget to be taller.

Myelaine; That,s the point I was making. Of course

the serpent did not have free will in the same

    sense that we do.

But he was create perfect, yet God curse this poor

creature when it had know say in the outcome.

It,s the same old story , Adam and Eve sin so

we pay for their mistake. So, free will or no free

will, the results are the same. That,s the Bible.
