ABS, I think the Facebook groups are doing a good job of helping, as are discussion boards like this one and the others across the Internet. I see lots of both young ones and people who have been out for years joining groups for the first time. They're reading CoC and CCMC for the first time. They're finally learning that they're ok and that it is the Borg that's wrong and evil.

It is unfortunate that many continue to live with fear and guilt over the Borg but the info to help them is available. The best we can do, IMO, is continue to make it available in as many formats as possible.

What can exJWs do to help that 67% to live fulfilling and happy lives outside of the WTBTS and not go back because of meeting a JW BF/GF or becoming tired of shunning by JW family and friends?

We're doing it. The Internet has changed the playing field, in terms of the information available to those with doubts/questions.

However, we can only help the ones who want our help.

I'm proud to say my youngest sister, 17 yrs old, is one of them to leave. She took a stand last year and refused to continue to go to meetings. Some of the best news I'd heard in some time.

Edit to add: I asked her how she came to that decision. Interestingly, she said she can remember thinking it was a bunch of hogwash as far back as age 10. I thought "the Force is strong with this one". Took me until my mid-20s to start thinking for myself.

Indeed, dear LWT (peace to you!), and may well be the beginning of the end for those who "steal" and mislead such ones:

"I looked up again and saw—surprise!—a book on the wing! A book flying! The Messenger-Angel said to me, "What do you see now?" I said, "I see a book flying, a huge book—thirty feet long and fifteen wide!" He told me, "This book is the verdict going out worldwide against thieves and liars. The first half of the book disposes of everyone who steals; the second half takes care of everyone who lies. I launched it"—Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies—"and so it will fly into the house of every thief and every liar. It will land in each house and tear it down, timbers and stones." Zechariah 5:1-4 (MSG)

Thankfully, some of the young folk won't have shared in "her" sins... and so won't receive her "plagues." Their elders, however... well, that may turn out to be another story...

    Again, peace to you!

    A slave of Christ,

    SA

IMHO, most of the people who are no longer JWs are still mentally captive to the concept that WT is God's Organization,

So true my firend, so very true.

I've noticed that the JW notion of God is perhaps that hardest thing to leave behind, even for those that no longer believe in God.

UNSKACKLED- THat is fantastic news about your younger sister exiting the Witnesses ! Right on ! I bet you're so relieved and thankful.

In my family 4 out of 8 nieces, aged 23 - 37 , nephews ( including my children ) are out of the JW cult. With a possible 5th sitting on the fence. Unfortunately out of the 4 that remain 2 are my adult daughters still Witnesses. My son got out about 9 years ago. But Leaving WT is right- the playing field HAS leveled out some due to access of information on the Internet. We can only hope that more young people exit this destructive cult before they waste their entire lives on it

What is the strategy to keep young people in? Deprive them of an education so their options are severely limited. It is the barefoot and pregnant strategy.

flipper...indeed I am. Was thrilled when I heard about it. Though just like anyone leaving, it hasn't been easy for her. Congrats on some of your family getting out. Our family is split as well...parents and 3 siblings are still in. But 4 of my other siblings have escaped. Am so grateful for that, they're my "real" family.

It's a shame that our young ones fall victim to the snares of the Devil. All too often they view the protection found only within The Truth as suffocating, simply because they don't have the experience (Prov 22:3) to recognize that the world offers nothing but emnity with the True God.- 1 John 2:15.
