  But "I'm thinking something "big" as in one of the Governing Body being caught in a major scandal, the 1914 date being done away with completely, etc"

  That already happened with Russel, Rutherford, Fred Franz, Chitty, and Greenlees, (sp). Ray Franz wrote THE book and few read it.

  Lots of major scandals. If you have any old timmers around, just ply 'em with some expensive booze and ask them about Rutherford. Everyone has a story...especially the sisters..yet they stayed.

  The other comments about LOTS of crazy religions is so true..they are all still around. People are people and have a spriritual need and a need to "Belong" and "Join". Had Ray Franz of started a kinder, more "Christian" group in the 80s "Reformed JWs" I think A LOT would have joined that as an alternative.

  The intrest alone from just the 2 BILLION Brooklyn DOLLARS will keep an ever changing governing body snug and warm pouring Koolaid indefinately on the upstate compound.

  The most we can hope for is some fellowship/online therapy here for recovering Cult members, and an up to date intelligence clearinghouse to prevent the worst cult abuses of innocents.

  THE BIG MISTAKE IS YOU STAYING IN WHEN YOU VERY WELL KNOW THAT YOU ARE WASTING YOUR LIFE. I WOULD RATHER DIE TOMORROW THAN BEING FORCED BACK INTO THE CULT, EVEN FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING "CONDITIONAL FRIENDS" OR EVEN FAMILY!!!!

  The GB using the love of God card to influence JWs to forsake their children and donate to the society instead should be outlawed. And it would make sense for the govenrment to do so, as the children who did not get their inheritence will be much more likely to become a burden to the STATE. ..."

  N.DREW when I was the accounts servant an older sister approached me because she wanted to give all of her money to the WT and not to her children...including her daughter who was in the truth. She wanted to give the money before she died so her children wouldn't find out as they would when her will would be read...

  You're right guys, lots of major things have already happened.

  Although I had not even heard of these things until within the last couple of years. If it weren't for the internet, I would never have heard of Ray Franz, 1975 and all of the other doctrine changes and scandals you all mentioned. So I wonder if things will change, with how easy it is nowadays to access information.

  Before, the only "apostate propaganda" I had ever seen was the signs of people protesting at the conventions (although they seemed to have disappeared in the last ten years, and my mom always made sure we closed our eyes as we passed them anyways). Now all I have to do is type 'Jehovah's Witnesses' into google.

  Maybe this will be the downfall of the organization?

  They will piss off the wrong person one day and the next thing we know the GB will have gone to hell in a mushroom cloud

  Actually - it is possible. The GB is down to a small core now - probably only 5 or 6 who really pull the strings. And listen to some of their talks on You Tube - some of these guys are almost certifiable. The older ones who had a degree of common sense ( the Franz's , Barrys , Barr's ) have either been kicked out or have died off.

  History is littered with the debris of leaders who lost touch with reality , were surrounded by sycophants & felt that they were divinely inspired - from Hitler to Rutherford. So often these guys blundered into making the most outrageous mistakes.

  Personally, i believe the GB still harbours molesters. In their own ranks, and at branch levels...

  Of course, there is no evidence for my crazy claim, but i believe it explains an awful lot.

  It would be sensational to say the least for the whole GB to be removed by the other sheep, or whatever silly 'class' name the helpers have been given. A huge power struggle that removes any 'annointed' from the top would shake the religion side of the product to the core...
