Yikes! This thread is getting so confusing with all the cut and paste.

I like short. Like this: " Without the bible you would have no content to your belief in christ."

People who can "see" spirit know that the world heads for decline. God, Christ or Bible has not revealed it. We know it from experience and observation.

So we hope for deliverance. We hope the world will grow up and be saved for forever. That also is a conclusion independent from God, Bible or Christ.

We hoped for Christ without knowing Christ.

The Bible is our gift from the one who knows we suffer for righteousness. Christ is our personal savior. He found us looking for him (which is a difficult thing to do!*)

    * Have you ever got separated from your partner, child, or group? Each party looks for the other one. They go around and around. If one party stays in the same place, the two parties can reconnect much easier. (that's just an aside so sorry!)

We hoped for Christ without knowing Christ.

    I like this.

Same with those who seek after God and Truth, without knowing God or His Truth. Seek, and find (or be found).

    Peace,

I haven't read all trillion pages of this...

Let me go back to the thread title: Throwing the baby out with the bath water

    non sequitur

Once you throw out the bath water of religion/belief/faith, there was no baby to begin with.

Do you really think there is a big man in the sky? Religion is superstition.

I read more on this forum than I can, or care to, comment on. But I realize now for a fact that I can no longer classify myself as a believer.

Not targeting anyone or any comment in specific here on this thread, but I've seen it expressed by some believers that certain parts of the Bible can not be trusted. If that's the case, who decides what can be trusted, and what should be disagreed with?

The question is off topic, I know. I just can't wrap my head around getting to know Christ when most ways other than the Bible seem to be assumed. And we all know what happens when you assume........?

Just to add to my comment above, I personally find that the arguments/comments made by the atheists here seem more convincing to me than a belief in.... (insert God, Jesus, Bible, religion, etc.) I don't completely dismiss all the believers thoughts, I just can't seem to connect any longer.

certain parts of the Bible can. Ot be trusted. If that's the case, who decides what can be trusted, and what should be disagreed with?

First of all the Bible has been translated wrong. I know, I have been studying it for years. I have a family, I can not make my study public. I cook every day and all the other things to take care of family. But there are hundreds of sciptures that do not say what the "experts" say they say. The translation we have and has been distributed for thousands of years IS the wolf in sheep's clothing. There is nothing wrong about the WORD. What is wrong about it is what people say it says. Look for yourself.

Second, for each person the whole thing does not apply. Some is for him, some for me, some for them. It is for ALL the children of God. It is for ALL the tribes and languages. It can't be perfect because it is written for ALL the people who view the world and the truth differently.

If you would accept the GUIDE you would know that.

Some of the scriptures (I do not know about ALL of it as it does not ALL apply to me) are wacked. They have been misconstrued. Even the "Old Testament" at the time of "Jesus" people were putting their faith in the "wacked" version.

N.drew, I love buffets too! Pick what you want and avoid the rest! Now there's a great way to learn the "truth".

If you don't believe something in the Bible and I do, I can argue and be right because I am a child of God.

Oh yes, and my fault - if I would ONLY accept the guide.

So N.drew or Tec can you tell me one really important thing that the bible says which is a result of mistranslation or "lying scribes"? Something that would make a significant difference to your beleifs.
