Some people just don't have it (faith).
This persistent idea that atheists lack something. At least I don't look at you and say you are lacking something. I believe you have all you need--not that you are missing something. My discussions center on asking to use what I know you have and can use---yours dismiss me as I simply don't get it. I used to have faith---I understand it well. I was a true believer, no hesitations. It was all connected to what was already here, in all of us, thinking ability. It was how I thought about things, not some mystical trait that I simply didn't possess. There is nothing lacking in here.

I do not think faith is a virtue. I believe faith is power. Of course it can be a virtue, just as atheists have their virtues sans faith.
I think you are wrong, Ndrew, to assert that atheists have no faith. Actually we do, but it is evidence based. For instance, if I know someone that is really good at remodeling kitchens, and I've seen their work and consistency, I may conclude that I have faith in their abilities and hire them to do my kitchen. I do not lack the ability to have faith. On the other hand, my very reason for existing is not bound up in faith. While I have faith in the individual, I also understand no one is perfect, and therefore they could mess up my kitchen. But I have faith that the risk is unlikely. Should it happen, my entire worldview will not take any serious hits.

I think you are right! Are you remodeling?
LOL! Yes I am. A friend is doing it, and it's not his usual business, so it tool LOT's and LOT's of faith. LOL
It seems to me like there are more atheists on this board (percentage-wise) than there are in general. I talk to many non-jw people in my area (some quite well educated) who believe in God and are quite religious.
tec can you ever conceive of a point where you no longer have faith and yet are still you?
I think what happens is that once the critical thinking skills that got us out of a cult kick in, EVERYTHING get's questioned. It can't be turned off. Some still believe after this happens, but I'm pretty sure that most of them have given it a great deal of critical thought. Then we come here and argue about our conclusions. It's great fun.

It is great fun, isn't it?
