My message to the Governing Body - The Results of the 2011 Global Survey

    Hi everyone

Excuse the rather pretentious title of this thread, but it has been decided that the best way of getting a message to the Governing Body is just to post it prominently online. Whether they choose to condescend to read the Survey results or not is up to them, but the likelihood is far greater if I publically "throw down the gauntlet" via our web pages.

Anyway, my message to the Governing Body (in case you want to read it) TOGETHER with the 2011 Survey Results in downloadable PDF format can be found on the following link:

    http://jwsurvey.org/general-information/my-message-to-the-governing-body-the-results-of-the-2011-global-survey

I've also compiled a nice "group photo" of them that should hopefully get their attention. Smile boys!

If you want an easier and less comprehensive version of the survey results, you can click here to access the visuals from the old survey. However, the PDF should hopefully make for interesting reading, because it includes most of the comments that were left by those voting. Some of the experiences and expressions from the voters have been very sobering to read when compiling the results, and I am sure many of you will find these interesting, if nothing else.

Any feedback or observations on the survey results or GB message on this thread would obviously be appreciated.

Anyway, I wish you all well - and don't forget to VOTE on the new 2012 JW Survey if you haven't done so already!

    Many thanks,

    Cedars

I don't like looking at their faces. They are people with feelings. They have mommies and daddies. Some of them might feel stuck just like some posters here feel stuck. Maybe there is one who is keeping the others from doing the right thing.

Cedars there was one question on the survey that I had to guess because neither answer applied. I forget what it asked, but it's on the survey for former Jehovah's Witnesses who left (escaped).

Hi N.drew, bless you! Unfortunately, these men have accepted roles within a group that effectively claims to be earthly representatives of God. If they didn't want the prominence or exposure, then they should have turned down the job offer.

Thanks for your feedback on the latest survey. Mrs Cedars took it, and there were certain questions where she didn't feel comfortable with any of the answers, so I told her to just skip those questions. I will try to make the 2013 version allow for more diverse viewpoints!

Wow, what a lot of work you put in to this Cedars!!!

Next round of is on me, mate!

Nice use of scriptures and quotes.

My only suggestion would be a "less is more" approach concerning all the quotes you published. Maybe you could have them available, but perhaps if you just chose a few really well articulated points it would have more impact, ... and a greater chance of getting read!

Let me know if they invite you for a meeting!

    My favorite comment from Cedars:

It is difficult to believe that the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses feels comfortable with potentially thousands of its members worshipping alongside them under a pretense. However, evidently they would rather endure this uncomfortable scenario that surrender any of their judicial power, which shunning in its current form affords them. By insisting that shunning should include family members, they know they wield the ultimate deterrent against any who contemplate leaving and taking the rest of their family with them. This blatant emotional blackmail is wholly despicable, and it is almost inconceivable that it should continue to break up families in this modern age of increasing tolerance among people of differing religious persuasions.

Amelia - thanks so much for taking the survey! I mentioned you in the results PDF, but I was reluctant to mention you by name incase you didn't appreciate the attention! Sorry if that was a bad call...

00DAD - haha, wow, yes I wrote that didn't I. It's funny, even now I find myself proof reading it. The whole thing took ages, but at least it's done now until next year. I agree that "less is more", but I started reading the comments and thought "What the hell, all of these people deserve to have their comments immortalized!" I only deleted the ones that were abusive, potentially slanderous, or just made no sense. Maybe by next year I'll figure out a way to show more restraint, who knows!

Cantleave - thanks to both of you for taking the survey! And hey, you've got to be one step ahead at all times in this game!
