The laborer illustration they use here is so convoluted and stretched out of shape, I hardly think its even effective, really.

Yes, the study articles are getting pretty whacky lately. I think it is a combination of trying to ratchet up control, yet having less material to work with i.e. not as much crazy prophecy stuff anymore. Even my wife thinks the stuff is pretty out there and wonders who writes it.

Flipper, hope your vertigo gets better. Only had it for about a day, not a great feeling!

first of all we had the same thing with the vertigo it was a drag and took awhile to work it's way out but it did and we're fine so hang in there.

The org's article is really strange when you think about it. They keep showing happy paradise pictures enticing people to think about their happiness and nice homes sitting around at picnics laughing and eating and than slap you in the face telling you those things are not right. It can't be wrong now and right later. they're really messing with peoples heads.

Graduation day speech for Gliead Missionaries

Gerrit Losch presented " be a happy Missionary" he stated " Fun bring no real happiness..... lasting happiness...

is not.....easy.....The Gilead course was hard word but brought great satisfaction......"

".......Happiness is found in expending oneself in the preaching work."

" Go fourth as a happy missionary......having a moderated amount of fun......and on making others

    happy as well"'

Please feel free to look this mag up for yourself, I could not make this mess up

even if I add the words " Once upon a time"

Question: how can life be happy without enjoyment? the pleasure of family, and friends

or just taking a thing called " A BREAK "

Get well Flipper, just cuddle wit Mrs. Flipper, It'll be alright

This is going to lower the benefit even more. You do the work, and get no benefit. No joy, no happiness. Just work--and Jehovah (or, in this case, the Washtowel Slaveholdery) gets all the benefits. And for nothing--you don't even get any more salvation by pious-sneering and doing missionary work in the Third World, joining the Value Destroyer Training School, or going to Beth Hell than if you just put in a damn time slip with 1 hour a month on it.

Now, if anyone was really smart, they would quit when the marginal benefit of doing more just starts to exceed the marginal cost. Usually, when you are plowing a farm (in the days before tractors), you would use animals--and you would plow for a few hours at a time before giving the animals a break (and taking one yourself). If you just keep going all day, the animals would get tired and may get hurt, and your concentration would diminish. You cannot simply work 18 hours a day in high heat, 7 days a week, without a break and maintain focus.

As for getting no benefit, I am still waiting for the dollar to become totally worthless. If I get paid in toilet papers after they become worthless, the cost of going to work will exceed the benefits--it would be more productive to search for gold and silver, create wealth myself, or barter services for services than to continue working. This is as true with the Washtowel--when the "currency" Jehovah pays me becomes worthless or his "checks" fail to clear consistently, there is no longer any point in continuing--and, since I am disappointed with the "pay" that Almighty Lowlife Scumbag has offered me, I don't give a fxxx if he doesn't like my work.

[Have just read the OP, but not comments - yet...]

Nauseating is the word for it....

"...On page 15 it states, " A field laborer is busy plowing. While plowing, though, he cannot stop thinking about his home where there are family, friends, food, music, laughter, and shade . He longs for them. After plowing a good stretch of land, the laborer's desire for those pleasant things in life becomes so overwhelming that he turns around to look at " the things behind ". Though there is still much work to be done before the field is planted, the laborer is distracted and his work suffers. Of course, the laborer's master is dissappointed by the worker's lack of perseverance. ..." OP

And the mental image that immediately leapt into my mind, was that of some poor illegal immegrant, toiling away under a merciless sun...

Paid next to nothing in wages, and even some of THAT held back as "payment" for the miserable hovel that passes as "room & board"....

Exposed to dangerously high levels of pesticides and herbicides - and looked down upon by everyone, ESPECIALLY that cruel and vicious "Master", who no doubt sees to it that 'his' laborers remain poor and ignorant...

"...You must put field service above relationships, home, family, children, food , laughter and ANY PERCEIVED pleasant things you enjoy that you may THINK you need. ..." OP

It's already been mentioned on a previous thread that the Watchtower Corporation was hinting that Jehovah's Witnesses really don't need to eat, as much as they think they do...

Pretty soon they'll be discouraging bathroom breaks, and then breathing...
