Just a idea, how many woman would want a child after a rape, surely she should be able to make the descision wether or not she wants a child that was conceived under such violent circumstances, not all abortions are done because it was inconvient for the parent

    Target,

I am not against abortion in those unusual cicumstances.

So you are pro choice then? So am I I also realize that there are certain circumstances that require an abortion. And since I am unable to determine why a person has an abortion I tend to err on the side if being non judgemental. I would hate for someone to label me without having all the facts. BTW, how do you know this?

But we all know that by far the majority of babies aborted are healthy, or would be if they were given a chance.

You were pregnant and had a living child inside you. For whatever reasons you had, YOU killed it.

No honey, you guys put IT inside of us baby! We don't want IT just as most of you don't want IT. It was a good time, remember? Don't put the blame on us alone. You fucking "hard up" shitheads "give it to us" then say "deal with it"! Yep, we do baby! We get rid of it, cause that's what most of you want! You don't like it? Masturbate!

Well it seems that a fetus is heading back to being an individual doesn't it? So a court ruled about something, I couldn't care less what the courts say. All those definitions are is a way for cold hearted bitches to rationalize killing their children. Now why don't you go do your part to fight the population explosion that you're so concerned about? Again, how am I oh so callous when I'm the not wanting a million kids to die a year here in the states?
As for the kids who live unwanted lives, why did their moms keep them when adoption is so easy?
Island woman, it doesn't matter how the kid got inside you, its there and its alive. I don't care how it got there or how big of a jerk the father may be, its inside you and if you abort it you are a killer. Following your logic of "the guy's a jerk so I'm going to kill his children" why not go out and kill the kids of the soccer mom who cut me off on the freeway yesterday? I don't care if a woman is raped and becomes pregnant either because even though it may mean even more suffering for her its a pretty fucking cruel thing to kill someone because of what their parents did. Quite a few people here (self included) think the idea of original sin is rediculous because why should we all have to suffer because our ancestors ate some bad fruit? Why should a child have to die because of what its father did?

    I don't need to fight

I don't need to be forgiven.

rhett, continuing to say (more-or-less) 'I think a fetus is equivalent to a human child' is not going to prove your point, it is just repeating your point. You are entitled to that opinion.

And yes target, a fetal heart does normally start beating at 28 days.

But at 12 weeks the fetus, although human shaped, has a smaller brain and less developed nervous system than that of a pet rat. A fact that anti-choicers don't include when they make their 'it's just a tiny baby' argumentation.

Patently it is not just a tiny baby. It looks, at twelve weeks, like a human, and it is understandable that this can cause distress to people; you've very right to feel that way if you feel that way.

But, while the lights may be on, there is no-one is home at such an early stage of development. You might not agree with this opinion, but the courts rule that a fetus is not a human being based upon the available facts, and those do not support the contention that a fetus in the earlier part of the term is equivalent to even a newly born human being.

You might, for example, believe that it is equivalent because every child is a gift from god, is a soul, or in some other theological belief that makes it imposible to counternance abortion. You might even be an atheist who believes abortion is wrong. ANd you are entilted to that opinion.

But as long as we live in societies where individual choices are not made for us by others, you can no more force that opinion on another than they could force an abortion on you.

Of course, as I argued earlier, the arguements in favour of abortion may mean nothing to you. But they do in a court of law.

People living in glass paradigms shouldn't throw stones...

The abortion debate is a huge display of of stupidity and twisting of fact.

The two sides never argue over the same issue. One fights for the rights of what a woman can do to her body and the other fights for the rights of the child.

Until the two sides can be brought to argue over the same point, whichever one it is, this debate will never end and will always spiral into chaos as the supporters of either side "do whatever it takes" to express their fervor to defend their views.

So while I have opinions on the matter I have realized that it is totally pointless to argue them and I have a greater chance of turning a frog into a princess than winning the argument.

You know what the difference between abortion and Sept. 11 is? Abortion kills more people.
Again, how am I oh so callous . . .

    Rhett,

You should paint the first of the above quotes on a body placard and walk around New York City for a while. I'm sure the New Yorkers will give you the attitude adjustment you are obviously so in need of.

Anyone who would trivialize the September 11 tragedies as you have is not only callous, but despicable and deserving of deportation. If you don't respect our people or the decisions of our courts, then why stay here? If our women are "cold-hearted bitches," why don't you go to Afghanistan where you can live with people who share your views on women?

Right, killing over a million kids a year is somehow worse than the death of thousands of people. Try explaining that one to me. Sorry if wanting children to not die is callous.
I don't think women are somehow second class citizens compared to men, I just think that all people are due whatever they wish upon their children. If they means having the children to grow happy productive people, then I hope the parents are happy and productive people. If they want to kill their children then I hope they die themselves. Its not just women either, if a guy is pressuring a mother to kill her unborn child then I hope he gets hit by a car while walking into the abortion clinic.
Come on 144, when are you going to do your part to help the population explosion you once seemed to care so much about?

Sorry if wanting children to not die is callous.

What is callous is your insensitive comments trivializing the plight of the victims of the 9/11 tragedy, as well as your suggestions that others kill themselves and your statements that you would like to see harm come to women who have abortions.

As for your suggestion that I kill myself to help defer the impact of the population explosion, I'm not suicidal as I don't have the mental problems you seem to possess. Too bad your mom didn't commit suicide before she blew the diarrhea load out of her rectum that grew up to be you.

    Rhett,

I understand feeling passionately about this subject, I really do. But it's so easy to say what you would do in a situation if you've never been in it.

What if you had a 12 year old daughter who was raped and became pregnant? She's 12 years old...she's in no position to be a mother. Are you going to take the child and raise it as your own? Can you swear beyond a shadow of a doubt that you would be able to love it and not look at it and keep remembering the evil of its father?

All I'm trying to say is, even when you feel strongly about something, it is very rarely black and white...and so easy to see.

    think41self

If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself!
