Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?

    slimboyfat,

I don’t think Watchtower’s Governing Body knows what it wants to teach about the biblical “this generation”. They have wandered all over the street on what the term means. They are scared to death of 2014. The internet is crushing what growth it used to get from born-ins. The new bunch stirs no heritage appeal. Basically they come over as though Bozos.

I think Watchtower’s moving its headquarters out of the city and into the countryside as part of a bunker mentality. They don’t know what to do, other than keep insisting that it be looked to as the voice of God or else.

we have never taught a thing about any "overlapping generations," which is my point. A generation comprised of two groups whose lives overlap with one another, yes, but not two 'overlapping generations.' . . . Eggy

Nothing to add . . . just in case anyone missed it the first time.

Why just 2 groups then? Why not 3 or 4 or 5?

What is the Biblical basis for saying it is 2 groups and not some other number?

Eggy (like WTS) cannot support the doctrine with logic or scripture . . . so falls back behind the protective veil of semantics (surprised?).

By substituting the word "group" for the overlapping "generations", they can have as many "groups" as they desire within a "generation" of indeterminable (perhaps infinite) length.

    Crazy stuff really.

For those who haven't seen Marvin Shilmer's great explanation....

See Eggnog - you don't need to waffle to make a point.

. . . previous interpretations as to what Jehovah's Witnesses understood the word "generation" to mean are irrelevant after they have been discarded. . . . Eggy

Eggster - "It really doesn't matter what "old timers" among Jehovah's Witnesses might have believed for several decades and might continue to believe today according to what may have been our previous understanding of the scriptures. What matters is what Jehovah's Witnesses believe today."

Yep. The society's exclusive right to call themselves God's channel of communication was born in 1919.....and was based upon the "fact" that Rutherford and his minions were the only group on earth that was serving the "proper food at the proper time". Yet somehow these wonderful "truths" that were taught in 1919 but no longer followed today because of their inaccuracies are....... irrelevant?

Eggster - "I'm not a nice person.....and I endeavor to live my life by God's standards"

Gotta love the hypocrisy of a JW! I see Eggster has clothed himself with the new personality. Keep those "standards" high, Egg!

I expect men to step up to me like men and I don't not expect them to cower or tuck their tails between their legs in fear as if they were a scared animal, a dog. . . . Eggy

LOL . . . you really do have a skewed outlook.

It's you who doesn't respond to anybody who catches you in your lies . . . and you contradict yourself constantly (go on - ask me for examples). You run away with your tail between your legs and only return weeks later in the hope of a new audience.

Fear of losing your childish beliefs is what motivates you to defend mother . . . evidence and logic don't get a look in.

Yes, we believed it once . . . but we grew up.

    You're still a cowering puppy.

Duh, we got it the first time, the second, the third .... whatever you want to call it, it is:

    • Dishonest
    • Illogical
    • Stupid

WT = Words mean whatever we say they do. Thanks for listening!

PS "Listening" = OBEY OR ELSE
