Also, speaking to JWs in the UK most have no idea when I ask them about the new generation teaching. They dropped it into the letter talks of the Sunday and obviously didn't emphasise it that much, everyone I spoke to missed it completely. The clay feet on the other hand..... Wow lol lol lol.
Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?

Shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching? I would say definitely shy, as well as afraid, reluctant, shamefaced, stammering, stuttering and nervous.
Not only is WT leadership speechless, but you'll fined that the rank and file are as well dumbfounded, dumbstruck and inarticulate regarding the new "generation" teaching.
I too attended the recent 2 day assembly where there was a very brief mention of the new "generation" thing that followed with a short skit where an elder is talking to an individual who has doubts. A very lame assembly part to say the least!
There are, beyond any doubt, troubled waters ahead for the organization regarding this flip flop.

Somebody..apologies, I cant remember who ..brought up Matt.ch.1 vs 17 which in my mind (feeble as it is at my age) should put an end once and for all about how long a generation is according to the bible.......If I`m off the planet here please set me straight...." All the generations then from Abraham until David were 14 generations, and from David until the deportation to babylon fourteen generations and from the deportation to babylon to the christ fourteen generations.
So from Abraham to jesus their were 3 lots of 14 generations, which = 42 generations
Abraham was born about 2018 BC
Jesus was born about 2 BC
a difference of 2016 years
2016 years divided by 42 generations =48 years
Which incidentally coincides with what jesus stated in prophecy concerning the destruction of jerusalem in 70 AD , well within a generation timespan of 48 years. Please correct me if I`m wrong here but if we are right ,why aren`t we hammmering this home ??

Well, if you want to see (in action) how little an active witness will actually try to defend the doctrine (while still believing in it), read this thread.
Reader's Digest version:
I wanted him to explain the whole 'this generation' thing just prior to the new light becoming public. I was hoping to commit him to the old light teaching first, but he was aware of the new light. After revealing the flip-flop of the teaching over the years, he simply reverted to saying that they are not about generations but about love of neighbor, God, etc.. Which, logically, I pointed out that this was little different than any other church. I have not heard from him since, even though he promised to get back with me.

Clearly this incomprehensible teaching is causing a lot of commotion even among the R&F, and they are desperately trying to be obedient and faithful to this ridiculous doctrine. Try as hard as they might they just can't do it.
The many discussions here on JWN are evidence of that as well!
We've discussed at length and from many different angles this ironically opaque flash of "New Light" from Jehovah. But one aspect that we haven't talked about is this:

When Prof Brian Cox described the universe altering around a man exciting the molecules in a diamond by simply touching it, it doesn't just nourish the intellect, but touches the sentiments of being a human in our universe, the knowledge we have come to know.
OMG. You just made my heart skip a beat. He's so adorable.

That's really interesting. Did that skit specifically concern doubts about the new teaching, or just doubts in general?

Leolaia asks: Did that skit specifically concern doubts about the new teaching, or just doubts in general?
Answer: The skit specifically was about doubts the brother was having with the new "generation" teaching. However, its' good to note that the comment and skit about the new "generation" teaching had nothing to do with the talk itself. The speaker out of no where made quick mention of the "generation" thing then came the short skit and then the speaker went back on track with the theme of his talk. If someone in the audience had gotten up to get a drink of water, was getting gum out of their purse or some other brief interruption like that-they would have missed it. That brief!
The theme of the talk was part of a symposium: "Beware of Bringing Reproach on Jehovah's Name-Harmful Gossip"
The point is that the adjustment made on the new "generation" is no small matter. Its' Huge! You'd think they would have devoted a whole talk that addresses the topic, rather than making some swift crack about it. So its' obvious WT leadership is shying away (as this thread is entitled) from saying too much about it. Its' as though the GB have been caught with their pants down and they're, well ................speechless!

Our circuit assembly is next week. I might be able to drag myself to hear just one talk to hear how they handle this.

Leolaia, Ectopic beats are benign... lie back and enjoy
On a side note, I have started my first ever blog, it is about science / medicine and faith. I hope to offer a place of interest with daily (ish) updates on science/evolution/medicine news and progess all mixed in with a bit of a diary regarding my strange life as a trainee doctor. E.g. last week I spent most of my time inside peoples abdomens... i know... weird right?
Many colleagues have encouraged me to write a book or something of that kind as our ex=JW lives are quite a steer from the norm, so I finally have. I would love some support for the blog. Also I hope to encourage people of faith to read it, so the scientific and academic ones amongst JW net (you know who you are) I would love it if you could keep an eye and help anyone that comes looking for answers. Who knows may even catch a JW or two.
The blog is called "Science in Wonderland" and it is on t'internet ere...
