  The blame for this rests on the head of ONE PERSON who made the decision to take innocent lives. No gun control law would have stopped him. No law against deploying improvised chemical munitions in an enclosed area would have stopped him. No law against improvised explosive devices would have stopped him from booby-trapping his apartment.

  The term "assault weapon" is a hype-up up invention of hoplophobes. I encourage you to research the term "assault rifle" to learn more.

  I have yet to see what level body armor the insane maniac was wearing. Body armor isn't some magic protection that covers the whole body. In the case of this shooter, the best bet would have been to aim for the hips and destroy his mobility and hope for a bleed-out. Gruesome but the primary objective is to eliminate the threat so that casualites can be evacuated. The notion of a head shot in that environment, forget it.

  Berengaria, the disconnect starts when parents quit being parents and let TV and the internet be babysitters. We've got kids now who have no respect for parents or anything else. They can't even form a coherent sentence without at least two spelling errors and their sense of right and wrong is based on their time spent playing video games.

  Well Mike, again, I agree to a point. Why are parents absent? Trying to make a life for the family, have a future in a dismal economy? Lack of education? Simply our modern lifestyle?

  They said he had armour from head to toe. Even his groin was protected. They, being HLN and MSNBC, said the type of armour would not have allowed penetration by the ammo that the police were carrying. He evidentally knew how to protect himself against a sharp shooter and had no intention of shooting himself.

  Seems like most of these guys plan to be dead after the deed. This guy and the Norway guy planned on being alive. Seems they have a need to be heard.

  Although I understand he is not cooperating. I say beat hell out of him until he spills his guts like the dog he is. Then give him his meds.

  Assault rifle? The one the shooter was carrying had a magazine with 30 rounds. People saw him reload. The police said he had another magazine with 100 round drum magazine, found at the scene. They just said he could have gotten off 50-60 rounds in one minute with this semi-automatic weapon.
