    Hey logical,

The WTS has the same problem with copyright infringement. When Kent from WT Observer posted the "elders manual", he was sued. Shan't be posting the "truth", now should we? What a JOKE!

READ ALL ABOUT IT, READ ALL ABOUT IT! JUST IN! TRUTH FOR SALE! TRUTH FOR SALE!

    MDS,

but FIRST, you've got to believe, the bible, every word of it, to come to know who can really pronounce God's Name.

Isn't there missing books to the bible? What about those? Who's version or translation should we believe "every word of"?

Let me ask a good questions. WHAT would it take to persuade you to
see and beleive the "truth from God's word?

  • larc

    Jr,

    Prove what?
    1. We can know absolute truth.
    2. MDS will bring some or all of it to us.
    3. The scripture about the woman her sons and Jehovah?
    4. 2001 is an important year?

Since we can't take on the whole world of ideas here, Jr, what domian or subset of ideas did you have in mind?

    Logical,

Why is asking questions of MDS an attempt try to prove him wrong? I never debated him, never accused him of anything. I simply asked him if he could provide more detail to his somewhat ambiguous ideas.

    larc,
Well, there are many topics that we can discuss and I have one in mind, but I want to know what it takes to convince you of truth from God's word. I don't want to start up a tree that is in vain.
Is it just scriptures that have to say something specific? Is it a combination of scriptures that have to fit together? Is there any reasoning on the scriptures? Does it just have to be something that appeals to you and your liking? Does it have to fit into your expectations of what should be? Does it have to agree with things you already believe? Is there any room to peer into the word of God and search for truth or does it have to just stand out? WHAT!! does it take to convince you? DOES it take a miracle? ????

    Jr,

The "truth from God's Word" is too large a domain. I have asked very specific questions to clarify conclusions others have drawn and received no answers. So far I have been called insincere. I have been compared to the Pharasees. I have been told that I lack faith and lack the ability necessary for discernment. This kind of name calling does not validate someone's conclusions. In the communication process there isthe sender and the receiver. If the receiver asks for clarification, it is incumbent on the sender to clarify rather than blame the receiver.

Jr, I have one other very specific question I would like to have addressed by someone. Go back and read the Noah account. Calculate the size of the Ark and note the amount of time they were in there. Explain to me how this could be true, considering the number of species on this planet.

    larc,
No doubt you have a good point on both accounts. The account with Noah probably did not include every specie , but only the parent families that could provide the basis for hybrid development. Only Jehovah can say how and what happened.
Let's start over. Let's take the subject of Christ return. I will start a new thread called, "Did Jesus second coming occur in the first century?". This discussion, I hope, proves to be one supported by scriptural arguments only, nothing else. No, "I don't think so" or "I don't think God would do that". If one believes God exist and has faith that God will finally act in behave of his people, then they will see and be impressed by this thread. If one can disprove a point scriptural, that will be welcomed. But if you try to disprove it, please give solid scriptural proofs. This will give everyone an opportunity to examine the evidence for themselves without the negative remarks that lead nowhere. We will take this a simple topic and develop it. If anyone would like to express scriptural arguments for or against, you’re welcome, but let's leave it scriptural and reasonable. I will begin this thread tonight. It will be called,"Did Jesus second coming occur in the first century?" I will need some time to get things together. So, I will see you tonight.

    larc:

    Consider this verse: Isaiah 55:8-9

"For the thoughts of YOU people are not my thoughts, nor are my ways YOUR ways," is the utterance of Jehovah. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than YOUR ways and my thoughts than YOUR thoughts"

Now considering this verse, which shows that Jehovah is bigger and better than us in every way. HE KNOWS BEST. So, the divinely inspired account of the flood, is accurate.

In the thousands of years since the flood, it is easily possible for all the varieties of animals around now to derive from a relatively small amount. These would have fit into the ark.

Yes, again, this is another thing you need faith to undestand. It IS scientifically sound, and remember, Jehovah's ways are higher than ours.

    Jr,

I appreciate your reasonable response to my inquiry, and I'm looking forward to your new thread. Unlike the TV progam, Dallas, I will not shoot Jr. By the way, I hope we can get most of the new subject thrashed out by Supper Bowl Sunday, which will prove to be a major distraction for me.

    Logical and Jr,

I know that Jehovah knows more stuff than I do, but all I can do is to try to figure out what I can with my relatively limited intellect. It seems to me that if Noah took in generic animals, then there would have to be a very rapid rate of evolution to produce the huge variety we have today. Since all animals were vegetarians before the flood, their would have to be rapid and significant structural changes to produce the carnivours, both among birds and mammals.

There was an interesting thread posted by TheOldHippy on now defunct Witnet. He had been reading some information about an archaeological dig that was dated no later than 150 years from the start of the flood.

The site was composed of a very large city with evidence of numerous inhabitants and a highly developed culture. The point that was brought out was that it would have been nearly impossible for this type of civilization to become established within the short period of 150 years.

I wish that I had known that Witnet was going to be going away....I would have saved the info. It was quite fascinating and very thought provoking.
