Much as I would love to be able to state accurately and factually that Jephthah practiced child sacrifice [ol' Abraham was willing to do that, so why not Jephthah?], I must point out that Jephthah's daughter was given to the temple as a "sacred virgin" - rather like the "vestal virgins" of ancient Greece.
She was not killed. However, her chances for marriage and the birth of sons - the only reason for Jewish women to exist, according to cultural norms - was totally eliminated. Which was, in a way, a "death" for her.
But she wasn't physically killed.

I wish you would tell your story. You seem conflicted. We are pushing your buttons, but only because you are making it easy. I think most of us have been conflicted and it hurts. I believe that you KNOW something doesn't add up. Learning that you have been misled can be hard to take. Even if you can accept that, you are still left with the question of what to do next. Its hard. It is like being the only fish around who knows he is in a fish-bowl. Sure thos plants look real, and there is a treasure chest, but its fake!! Just take it slow and don't expect to know it all. Don't believe any one who says they know it all because they are lying. DO NOT PUT YOUR TRUST IN NOBLES, OR IN THE SONS OF EARTHLING MEN. TO WHOM NO SALVATION BELONGS! How much simpler could it be? When you have a group of men from ANY background who don't have all the answers but expect blind obedience, you have a problem. Especially if those men are so judgmental that they will punish you for even questioning them! IF you believe that the JW's have the truth and no one else out of Billions of people are doing anything that pleases Christ, then you shouldn't be here. A speaker the other day said from the platform that no one else in the world preaches about God's kingdom except JW's. That simply is not true. I know many people change their lives for the better after they become JW's, but that is because they are applying the principles of the scriptures. We just don't know it all like we say we do, we do not have a monopoly on truth. I would like to suggest that you watch the " Channel of God " series on youtube. I know you can't watch everything and that your time is limited, but if you really are interested in learning TTATT then please watch those videos. They do not attack anyone, they just present the facts. Just remember that the GB have said they are not infallible, so what gives them the right to act like they are? They should be the most humble men on the earth. Just remember that you have nothing to learn and everything to gain by honestly examining all things, you must love truth.
Interesting how Recovery can write entire paragraphs complaining about, amongst other things, the "questioning" he receives on this forum (after all, only HE is allowed to ask questions, not us), but in all that rant he still can't provide a simple "yes" or "no" to the question of whether he has ever read the books he sets out to criticize.
I say he didn't read them, and he's stalling for time. The funny thing is, he could simply lie and say "yes", but either his "conscience" is preventing him from doing this, or he knows we will find him out eventually.

I believe he has a severe case of cognitive dissonance but is afraid to recognise it because he might end up feeling like I did after I read Ray Franz's books (see my username).
So he wants to find out exactly what's in those books and is asking us because he's too afraid to read them for himself. He knows once he's read them Pandora's box will be opened and he'll never see things in quite the same way again.
Truthfully search inside yourself Recovery, you don't need to tell us anything. There is nothing you can say that will ever convince us of anything anymore. Many of us have heard it all over many decades as JWs. Many have been (or in some cases still are) MSs. elders, elder's wives, pioneers, bethel workers, missionaries etc. The thing is, we've all been where you are now.... your toes are dipping into the 'apostate' waters.
Your mind is not wanting to accept the things you've read so to try and make yourself feel better, you are challenging everyone. Do you have some emotional turmoil going on inside you? Listen to it.....
