Please, can you set up a small probono legal aid for clinic for sexually abused children by Watchtower appointed authorities in New York state? I think, its high time that we creat more simons in other states, one in CA, one in Canada (jwn) and now more ones in NY. Please, what do you think?

    Scott,

I could not do it alone. There may be an existing public interest firm that specializes in such cases. In fact, if Simons prevails, I can see many lawyers entering the fray in search of 1/3 of the award. I had a full merit scholarship in public interest law so maybe I should tap some friends and alumnae to see what groups exist. A sexual abuse victim whose perp was sheltered by any church would help all WT related litigation.

This is precisely why I decided to go to law school, not to practice antitrust law. There are several Roman Catholic groups. Civil rights groups each have their own legal funds but also collaborate together. Food for thought, Scott.

Even if only helped wtih fund raising or publicity, it would be a great cause. I was never abused by JWs b/c my parents never trusted the men for one second. If they did not accompany me, I was forbidden to do field service. The sexual tension with my JW father was so palpable, it was scary. They were adamant about it but tactful so that it was not so obvious to observers. I was so jealous of a classmate who received attention from the asst. overseer. She drove me crazy with her JW ardor. Recently, we were in touch and I confessed jokingly. To my shock, she revealed that she had been molested, dragged before a JC,and forbidden to ever mention it. He had to be a serial perp b/c he was disfellowshipped. They announced that he committed adultery. I don't call raping a girl adultery.

    Thanks for the idea, Scott.

Ms Band, now that you may be slowikng down after clocking 64years, starting early is strongly recommended. You may even be realied uppon by other non-jw attorneys as an expert witness of sort. You never know, you may end up way big , way big, turning New York to rival California in a way unimaginable. Everythings starts small. BOTR, 'the ball is in your court'

<<<< For a lawyer of his status, I really find John's wholesale attack on Cedar' headline as very troubling>>>>

With all due respect, Scott, you know nothing about me, except for the fact that unlike you, I don't advocate the publication of false statements in furtherance of your "win at all costs" philosophy. There was absolutely nothing true about the headline I responded to, and while you claim it had "substance," you've failed to provide anything to support your contention that lies have "substance." What you advocate is no different from what the WTBTS practices. You can take a person out of the kingdom hall, but in some cases, you can't take the kingdom hall out of the person. Your shameless advocacy of the publication of false statements illustrates that point.

As for your reference to me as a "lawyer," I've never posted anything concerning what it is that I do for a living. If you want to speculate that I'm a lawyer, then feel free to do so, but I will never respond to any questions concerning my occupation in life. I bet that when we move on to medical subjects, there will be folks here referring to me as a doctor. Having knowlege of a subject does not make one a practitioner/professional in the subject matter.

However, I'm quite confident in the accuracy of everything I've posted here, and I challenge anyone, lawyer or not, to disprove anything I've posted in this thread.

Scott, shame on you for advocating the publication of lies. Ex-JWs are not benefitted by false statements or your advocacy of dishonest behavior.

Well, if you are not a lawyer, you should be! I rule out paralegal.

Hey, people paid notice when you posted.

does anyone know, are their assets frozen? can they still sell real estate?

I don't know. My understanding was that if they paid money for an appeal bond they could transfer property. I don't see the point in crippling them in business matters once they assure the court that they can satisfy the damages. I am NOT a CA law, though. It would take a very long time to research all the issues to know for certain. Simons and the WT lawyers have already done so.

Their assets are no longer frozen. That order has been vacated because of the bond. The attorneys from both sides and the judge have signed in agreement.

    Scott,

Your efforts to distract from your shameful support of dishonesty by quoting posts of mine that are entirely irrelevant to this issue speak volumes about you and your "win at all costs" mentality.

Unlike you, I won't spend my time researching your posts to see if there's one from the past that I can use to attack you with. It's obvious that your argument ran out of gas; in fact, it never had any gas to begin with. You have asserted that there was "substance" to the title of the article that is the subject of this thread. Although you've been asked to clarify what "substance" you attribute to a false statement of facts, you've failed to support your bogus claims.

Instead, consistent with the "win at all costs" philisophy you've exhibited here, you chose to research my posts to see if there was something you could attack me with. In doing so, you found a "goodbye" thread I started because I had previously thought that certain personal circumstances would force me to abandon this site. Well, you failed to support the delusional comment you posted earlier in this thread, but hell, you caught me for saying "goodbye!"

Your personal attacks do not make you right. You remain wrong, and your support of making dishonest statements in support of the anti-WTBTS effort demonstrates your lack of credibility. Being an Ex JW does not mean you also have to be a liar.

I've been here for over a decade but won't be here much in the future. I've enjoyed getting to know many here and reading posts on all different subjects. This is a great site and I thank Simon and Angharad for creating and maintaining this site and for putting up with me all these years!

Anyone interested in contacting me can send me an email at [email protected].

    Best of luck to everyone!

It does not take rocket science to know the character of the author of the above. Whose credibility is online here? Is this John's self-fulling prophesy? Hi John, there is more homework for you.
