Yep! Wendy Lawton needs to hear MORE on the WTS df'ing policies and shunning and the results. Also about those JC meetings and what's involved, especially when they hold a JC and sexual behavior is an issue.

Newboy thanks for bringing that back up. I didn't know about JWD in 2002. It is an interesting read.

I wonder how many of us newer ones here will send Wendy an email today. I did not notice the 2002 date until I got to the 5th page. At first I thought I had drifted into the Twilight Zone.

    Thanks for sharing the information.

I love all you posters out there--don't be upset with Yadirt (hey does that stand for Jehovah's Dirt?) He's just jealous because he's still chained to all those hogwash beliefs. If he really was a serious JW, he wouldn't be on this forum debating with us evil Apostates. Unless of course he fell asleep during the District Assembly when they had the talk about the Internet being evil. LOL

Promoting teachings that conflict with the Bible also qualifies.

It should read: (Promoting teachings that conflict with the WTS also qualifies).

    The Claw.

    One word TED:

    MOMENTUM!

Do you feel It shifting brother?

Protecting the congregation's purity is the point of disfellowship. Members are kicked out before they can harm, or continue to harm, others with conduct or beliefs that contradict the Bible.

Sherwood elder Tom Davis said there is a second purpose: Putting a member back on the proper moral path. Davis said disfellowship -- or even the threat of it -- often forces people to make positive changes in their lives.

"This helps someone realize that they've made a mistake and need to change their ways," Davis said. "And we're not talking about little stuff. This discipline comes from violating the stated laws of God."

According to elders, experts and church materials, here is how disfellowship works: To get kicked out, baptizedmembers must display a pattern of"serious un-Christian conduct," such as molestation, adultery, drinking or lying. Promoting teachings that conflict with the Bible also qualifies.

It isn't clear what Robert Bryant's offense was. Neighbors and friends in California said he began to question Bible teachings and found the Shingle Springs, Calif., congregation too controlling. An elder has declined to discuss specifics, saying Bryant had "turned away" from the faith.

Elders said they try to avoid shunning through Bible counseling. And, if repenting members convince leaders they've changed, they can stay. If they don't, elders call a private, judicial-style meeting and expel them.

The shunned still can attend religious services, officials said, and conduct business with members. But Witnesses are instructed not to socialize with someone who is disfellowshipped.

So, which is the worst offense? It is pretty transparent.

Another raped soul, thanks to the Watchtower Society of New York USA, LAND OF THE FREE.

No smoking and no drinking policies don't push people over the brink TED. Your lethal policies ARE. HAVE. And WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

"Declined to comment"? You and your henchmen need to talk to the people whose doors you keep knocking on and explain these policies and why this man felt such desparation. COMMENT TED. Tell this world that you profess to hate so much and are waiting with drool and blood dripping, for it to all end soon so that you can live forever...blah, blah, blah, why these policies are so important to the STRUCTURE OF YOUR CORPORATION.

Don't pull a Halliburton either TED. That would be a very bad idea to even consider.

    To the lurkers:

Email this article to your local news and representatives. Bomb the news corp with it. Tell them and show them the facts and stats on these policies. It's their responsibility to report it. Be relentless and determined.

And yes, flyers would be a great too. Just put them anywhere and everywhere. Especially places where people have to wait. Where other reading materials are. Include this forums web address.

    Happy trails!

No, it doesn't matter how old the article is. It's the principle. Plus the fact that this policy is still in use, and still destroying families and fostering hate.

Leonard Golaboff, a 46-year-old elder in Oregon City, notes that there is no proof that Bryant's ouster from a congregation outside of Sacramento was directly responsible for the murders and suicide. Like all expelled members, Golaboff said, Bryant could have changed his ways and come back.........

Oh ya, typical bullshit Dub mentality: "We'll let you keep your family and life-long friends just as long as you play by OUR rules." They won't admit that they could possibly be at fault....Oh no-----instead, lets do what all control freaks do: blame the victim!

What worries Golaboff and other Witnesses is a link between the trigger of Bryant's shotgun and a 132-year-old faith that deplores violence and cherishes family.

Once again, this is typical: They're not worried in the least that their disgusting practice of Shunning Watchtower Style is literally killing people, but rather, they're worried about their reputation and how others in the Hall might start to wonder why some of the happiest people on earth are killing themselves after being shunned.

The Organization Bible is their bedrock. Witnesses live their lives in strict fear accordance to its teachings and follow a rigid moral code. Stealing, drinking, smoking, thinking for yourself, celebrating your child's birthday or questioning any of their bizarre teachings, premarital sex -- all are forbidden.

Oh please. Why doesn't the asshole give all the examples of when disfellowshipping DOESN'T have 'positive' changes? Maybe we should send this elder Tom Davis some pictures of ex-Witnesses who have had their lives utterly destroyed because of this cult!

According to elders, experts and church materials, here is how disfellowship works: To get kicked out, baptized members must display a pattern of "serious un-Christian conduct," such as molestation, adultery, drinking or lying. Promoting teachings that conflict with the Bible also qualifies.

I'd love to see any example of a Witness who's actually been disfellowshipped for molestation. Adultery? Yep, that still qualifies, but drinking and lying sure as hell don't. If they DF'd a member every time they over-drank, there'd be 99% fewer elders than what there are now. I can't imagine why Brother Davis failed to mention those who went on Dateline and 20/20 to expose the pedophile cover up in the Organization. These people were molested themselves. They weren't fornicators, or drunks or liars. They simply exposed a serious crime and were disfellowshipped as a result.

This is great that the Society is getting yet MORE bad publicity. Coming on the heals of the nut-case foster mother, the blood issue out in British Columbia and other horrific scandals........perhaps the morons at Bethel should start to re-think some of their pathetic laws.

I had not heard of this story and can only say I am shocked an what a terrible tragedy.

Did someone mention - 'By their works you will know them, that they have love amongst themselves.'

So many JWs kill themselves, and this case others too, when they are shunned and disfellowshiped.

There are far too many cases of abuse heard of in the org to be just coincidental.

The whole org is packed with losers and nutcases and those on the verge of becoming so because of the ludicrous system that the Watchtower imposes on them.

The time may well have come for 'The Great Harlot' to be laid bare and revealed for what it truly is.....a travesty of everything that it should represent.

Cases such as Ms Spry and stories such as these and others are just way too common to be just little quirks of individual bad character.

What a mess and tragedy the Jehovah's Witness religion truly is.

How very sad.....for all of us and particularly for those still trapped in its grasping clutches.

Yes atheists are indeed miserable, even though they won't admit to it, and they crave company

That is the witness teaching, and it's not true. There are many atheist that live happy lives. You should research it before you attack it. State the facts, not something that you were told. How many atheist do you know?
