Don't take it as anger but education and enlightenment and some good natured ribbing like we do with our JW friends. Someday you will wake up, I have the highest of hopes for you and others still 'in' Catholicism.

I've shared plenty of good-natured ribbing with friends of mine. Strangely, we never get around to saying the leaders of our different religions "slither" off into retirement or somesuch. Perhaps some might think that a fellow like you, generationally steeped in the ignorant arrogance and hatred of Catholics that is the JW's worldview, has simply given up the parts that suck (the door-to-door work and those stupid meetings) and kept the parts that feel good (bigotry and the gnostic feeling of being the chosen ones). There would be plenty of evidence to support that thought, I'm afraid.

Secrecy now rules the election process- The Conclave is set to begin Tuesday and the doors of the Sistine Chapel chamber will be locked. The Conclave beings with the utterance in Latin 'Extra omnes' Everyone out, and will not conclude until the words are heard 'Accepto' I accept, uttered by the winning Cardinal who has won by two thirds vote. God is very democratic.

Jamming equipment has been installed to prevent eavesdropping. Even if a Cardinal were to sneak a cellphone into the conclave under his robe its signal would be blocked.

Voting is done in Latin with the written words- 'Eligo in summen pontificem' I elect as supreme pontiff _____________.

There can be mistakes with the smoke signals, damp air has changed the color (wrongly) at times, chemicals have been added to perfect the color with mixed results. As backup the Sistine Chapel bells sound to signal to the adoring thousands outside the new Pope has been selected by God.

We never get inside the GB election process but I imagine it never approaches this much pomp.

Slithers, slithered, slithering all seemed appropriate. Note Cardinal Angelo Scola (one of the top contenders for new Pope) and his view of the sex scandals that have haunted the Church of Rome in the past 3 decades- of the media coverage he said it dealt 'an iniquitous humiliation' to the 'Church'. To the Church!

The Wt. knows this myopic attention to Church over victims. Note the thread on Candice Conti by cedars. Yes 'slithers' was appropriate.

Shall we vote for our favorite- some of the leading and popular Cardinals in the running are:

Cardinal Ouellet- From Canada, likes Hockey and considered very 'cosmopolitan'.

Cardinal Turkson- Ghana, said condoms were not the solution to Africa's AIDS crisis but said they could be useful in some circumstances.

Cardinal Arinze- Nigeria, almost won the last time but was edged by a nose at the finish line by Ratzinger, is known as a Vatican insider.

Cardinal Scola- Italy, Church image over victims anyday anywhere anytime (think GB member Morris), a ultra conservative Catholic.

Cardinal Sandri- Italy, but serves Latin America, well known as Pope John Paul IIs spokesman and announced his death in 2005.

Come Tuesday morning what will be the final Blessing delivered before the Cardinals are locked inside the Sistine Chapel-

    Blessing Of The Bacon

    Blessing Of The Eggs

Blessing Of The Bread and or Butter

    Blessing Of The Bedroom

Like Ripley's Believe It or Not these are real Catholic Blessings.

At Bethel I think the prayer most offered by the Bethelites at Morning Breakfast was- 'Please Jah no more food poisoning'.

Sulla - most of us learned to despise the RCC after we left the Watchtower.

Just so you don't feel singled out for criticism....

What's in it for you if you have no chance of winning, quite a lot really. So the Horse Trading has begun. You see if your guy loses you could be out in the hinterlands like a DO who gets sent to the Badlands of N Dakota.

The Roman Catholic Curia, the Roman Church's 'royal court' is controlled by the Italian Cardinals and these old families hold on like a crab to bait. The game is to get as close to the Pope as possible to get your agenda to be the Church's agenda. Now there are several of these curias, and there is an inner circle that is even more coveted- the Vicariate General of his Holiness of Rome, this comes under the guidelines of the Apostolic Constitution (Ecclesia in Urbe).

So the Horse Trading begins and some will live within the Vatican compound and others will live in N Dakota.

How much money will the new Pope have at his disposal to run his immediate needs. According to notocbcp the departing Pope Benedict had about $200,000,000.00 annually. Like most religions clever methods are created to take money in and then divert portions to the Leadership so it is not counted as actual 'income' but the money is there for the leadership's use none the less.

We have suspected the Wt. of doing this for years through overcharging for parking tickets to Assemblies and Hotel kickback fees etc..

With the Pope's guidence several 'charities' are used for this money skimming scheme. Ever hear of 'Peter's Pence', Peter's Pence brought in $101million in 2006. IOR? IOR is the Insitutes of the Works of Religion or the Vatican Bank which reported another $102 million. National Catholic Prayer Breakfast- $100,00.00 was given to the Pope along with the charity Sisters of Life. American Catholics also have another 'charity' to funnel money to the Pope- The Papal Foundation, $870,000.00 was recently given through this charity.

A Whistle blower priest who steered cash from the Legionaries of Christ told author Jason Berry 'its an elegant way of giving bribes'.

COR UNUM, the Pontifical Council operates out of an office on the north end of Vatican City and distributes funds from charities and the personal money given by the Pope. Under COR UNUM other charities function to spread the 'social teachings of the Church'- ie birth control, population control, abortion, and gender politics' which means money is poured into political campaigns around the world.

Some 162 Catholic agencies shuffle money around, much much more than the Wt. at this point. The perfect shell-game. Pope Benedict left office listed by Forbes as the 5th most powerful person on earth.

To the tune of Herman's Hermits- No Milk Today No Pope today, the smoke is sooty gray/ the Cardinals stand forlorn, a symbol of our scorn No Pope today, it seems a common sight/ the crowds don't know just why .......
