Yes, after looking at the link, I would say it was a Carmelite order. It's what I wished to do when I got divorced ... not as a Catholic, but I wished I was so I could just retreat from life and not have to live in the world anymore. It's similar to being a JW in my opinion, as every moment of your life is dictated - no 'real' thinking required.

    ;)

Mind you...I saw a documentary a wee while ago about them. And they all looked pretty happy. So, maybe that lifestyle suits some people. But if they go is straight from school...I think it's sad. Total indoctrination.

    I don't think I would have made a good nun...LOL

Yeah, I had read the schedule, and browsed the site. The nuns I saw on the show were quite happy as well. It would NOT be the life for me, oh no, lol! It was just a time of my life when I was so sick and tired,,, and sick and tired ... that I wanted to just go away. just AWAY, somewhere I didn't have to think or feel.

And I agree that it's not something that should happen at such a young age. *sigh*

They do a LOT of thinking there...but it's guided thinking, they are told what to think...so I'm not sure if you can count that as real thinking.

I wonder what goes on at the Examination of Conscience and Midday Hour. What can they possible have to examine? They are nuns who spend nearly their whole time praying.

I always used to wonder what the nuns said in confession too...I mean...they're nuns. Do they tell the priests ALL their dirty secrets?

Natural thoughts are suspect in the convents.

Catholics were admired for setting up schools where the 'natives' were taught to read and write someone else's languange and of course the young were taught the Catechism- indoctrination! Gosh how many years did it take for my kids and other young JWs to undo the fairy tales they were taught at the KH. Noah's flood, Jonah and the big fish etc. aaaaah!

The out-going Pope was an exorcist, I wonder if Francis feels he has the same powers or calling to cast out demons.

How would JWs feel if one or more of the GB announced they have the power to expell demons.

How the secular world views people who believe in real demons is another story.

Thats the thing isn't it? Instead of these stories being taught as fairy tales and myth (which I have no problem with)...they were taught as reality.

How can adults, that are raised to believe fairy tales, grow up and cope with reality? Why do we do that to our children, if not because we also are still living a fantasy. Normally with fantasy children grow out of it because they don't have adults constantly confirming that the fantasy is real.

The real world is so much more interesting once we figure out that imaginary frends are just that...imaginary.
