Don't call it biblical, unstopable, because you are ignoring obvious women leaders in both the old testament and the new testament. It's your doctrinal choice. In my generation, "he" and "mankind" referred to both genders, habitually taking the male form for the plural and the neutral. That has changed in my generation. That verse in Timothy might assume male dominance in leadership roles, but I don't see how it excludes women. A woman worthy of respect and the wife of one man, surely is just as qualified for deaconhood?

Besides, God made us just as smart, just as spiritual, just as compassionate, and just as capable of leadership roles.

Yes, the Episcopal church has women serving as priests and deacons. Okay with--that wouldn't be the right words to use. The Episcopal church respects the rights of homosexuals. It is not something that all individuals agree with, but the church respects the rights and welcomes all. They view the church as a spiritual haven and a kind of hospital where everyone can go to find healing. You might want to know that many churches, including the Episcopal Church believe that Jesus was God. If you believe Jesus is God, then it's important to note that Jesus did not once mention homosexuality. On abortions: there has never been an official "okay" for abortion. Me personally? I don't imagine I could have one or promote one, but I am definitely prochoice. America doesn't need to return to the days of backroom butcher shops. That's me though, not the church.

jgnat: your confusing two differnt things, yes when the bible says "man" is alot of case it refers to both sexes example 1 tim 2:4 it is refering not just to males, however the verse in 1 tim 3 say husband (which is only male) of one wife(which is only female), i agree with you that women are just as smart and capable as men, however the bible say what it says. believe you me i learn alot from women, dont take it as if its sexist cause its not.

fhn: yes i believe jesus is god, jesus did mention and quote gen 2 that a man shall leave his mother and father and stick to his wife, clear in my opinon ,at the end of the day matthew 7 not all saying lord lord,.... the road and path is narrow and this all inclusive everything is ok attitude that is in somechurches is going to have many shocked when they are before christ. i guess i veiw it like this when two ppl make a contract both partys can bargin for the terms of the deal and both sign and thats that, the new covenent is not like that there is no bargin they are on gods terms.just a thought

Regardless of what 1 Timothy 3 says, there were female apostles and deacons. There were female judges. I say you have taken that one scripture out of context from the whole bible and therefore, not biblical. I was taught that scripture balances scripture and if you haven't looked at the whole, you have an unbalanced view.

jgnata. first thanks for your thought, at first i was surprised because i never seen that word before deconess, i guess because when i was a jw i used the nwt which say minister, and now i use the kjv and asv, the kjv says servent. i read some commentiary and it seems divided on whether this is deconess is acceptable or not, and as far a verse 7 your link did alot to show for one its not even sure what sex is mentioned and what amoung the apostles mean.
