Lost: NE forgot to mention regarting the tetragrammaton. IT is spelled Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh, but it is pronounced Yud-kay-vav-kay. The H is pronounced as K. Here in the U.S. it is easy to understand this. San Jose Calif. is pronounced San Hose' the J is H.

David H Stern did a very good job with the Complete Jewish Bible, and does claim to be a Christian.

    Hope this helps

affectionately: Brother of the Hawk ( I will surrender my mind no more, forever)

If you get baptized and your kids don't accept the "truth" and you continue to talk to them, you will be df'ed." She then said again she will not shun her kids and every time she did I said but if you are baptized you will be df'ed. I think by about the 3rd or 4th time of me saying that she started to get it.

I bet you can't find a single WT article to back up that statement with. If she confronts any JW who knows their stuff with that, they will use your statement to accuse you of being a liar ...... and she will have no way of proving that you are not. If I was you, I would study up what they really do teach about relationships with unbaptised family members and fix any errors before a JW gets a chance to use your words to trash your character.

Be careful when talking to JW-friendly folk that you don't unintentionally give them "spiritual indigestion". I do wonder about these folk who spend several years "studying" with the witnesses but who remain "on the fence". You'd think they either make a commitment or leave. Something's keeping her hanging on...and I'd guess there'd be something about the organization that appeals to her. I'd hope your 4-hour plus marathon talk fest with her has convinced her to re-appraise her intention to get baptized. But even if she goes ahead with baptism, that does not seal her fate. There's an old saying among ex-JWs, that the first step in leaving the organization is getting baptized. Usually, once the person is baptized they begin to see the organization for what it is. Little wonder, those getting baptized each year barely cover the numbers leaving.

Thank you Gojira_101 for your interesting post. As I do have some questions, I had to register to this forum. On the online bibleserver I couldn't find the reference to your comment "anyone calling on the name of Jehovah will be saved" so I replaced Jehovah with the Lord and got to Romans 10, 13. As I do not have a "New World"-Translation of the Bibel I went to jw.org. It is good that they put all their books and magazines online. It makes it very easy to compare and to find all their mistakes and misinterpretations. A few posts later Newly Enligtened gave more interesting answers. But one thing is not clear yet. Gojira_101 could you please give me the reference to the Watchtower where they themselves admitted that Jehovah is not God's name. Can I find it online? I always thought - don't know why - that English speaking Jehovas Witnesses use also "Jah" as abbreviation of their God. Long time ago I stumbled over the subliminals in their literature. Do you know of the Watchtower 2/15/90 page 25? What does "Jah" really stand for?

    The Watchtower.2/15/90.pg.25.

    Hi Jen, welcome

I asked NE about that WT edition, it's not on the CD or their (wt) library, I think she said as it was such a long time ago.

You might also want to read the other info posted about God's name etc

    YHWH v YHVH

Thank you *lost*. Too sad. Without a reference as evidence to that claim I cannot use it. But let me get back to Watchtower 2/15/90 page 25 where you can find "Jah" as subliminal. Well, less sub, more obvious. Could be meant as abbreviation to Jahveh. Just a guess. "Jah" is part of a monster face in this Watchtower. Probably meant to frighten.
