THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD ........ Is foolishness unto God...... J.Parsons

The ''Wisdom of this World'' is the prevailing cultural spirit that suppresses the reality of God's presence and truth.

It is the realm of the savvy,

    the worldly-wise

    the shrewd

    the intellectual

    the prudent, and even to

    ''doctrinally pure''

    Yeshua once remarked that

'' the sons of this world are more shrewd in their dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. (Luke 16v8)

In 1 Cor 3, the Apostle Paul admonished Christians to get behind their

''party loyalties'' and doctrinal strife in order to understand that MASHIACH is the FOUNDATION,

THE ARCHIMEDEAN POINT of all TRUE WISDOM about life.

Authentic Wisdom is humble in it's apprehension of the Mysteries of God.

It doesn't boast in mens ideas or lean upon the calculations of carnal human reason.

Indeed the way of the Spirit is often at odds with the intuitions of reason itself.

Since it is based not on an ideology or doctrinal ''system'', but upon the Living Presence of the Teacher.

    Therefore Paul said

'' let no one deceive himself, if anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age,

let him become a fool that he may become wise'' (1 Cor 3v18)

Of course Paul didn't mean that Christians were to board some ''ship of fools'' and live as Spiritual absurdities in this life.

He knew that there were many Scriptures that commanded the pursuit of wisdom, truth, understanding, and so on.

Paul was teaching in a rabbinical style and used hyperbole to make his point.

In light of the truth of the presence of God Himself, adherence to credal formulas or allegiances to a particular human teacher makes ''wisdom'' ultimately foolish and futile.

    THE NEED TO BE ''RIGHT''

is often based on ignorant motivations that cloak an inward condition of PRIDE, VANIT, + UNBELIEF.

    As Abraham Heschel wrote

'' in a controversy, the instant we feel anger, we have already ceased striving for truths and have begaun striving for ourselves for the wisdom of this world is folly with god.

For it is written ''HE CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS'' (1 Cor 3v19)

the hebrew word translated ''folly'' is KESILUT better understood as stupidity.

The ''wisdom of this world'' is ultimately based on fear that leads to the desire to contrrol others.

Sometimes, as in the case of warfare, it leads to acts of violence and murder.

Human reason designs and schemes in order to obtain its self-serving ends.

Whereas heavenly wisdom understands that there is no further ''end'' in sight than that of the LORD Himself and His presence.

    I sa 14:12-14 NWT

2 “O how you have fallen from heaven, you shining one, son of the dawn! How you have been cut down to the earth, you who were disabling the nations! 13

As for you, you have said in your heart, ‘To the heavens I shall go up. Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting, in the remotest parts of the north. 14 I shall go up above the high places of the clouds; I shall make myself resemble the Most High.’

Lost, please can you enlighten me as to your statement: "There is no ''W'' sound in Hebrew"? Are you referring to modern Hebrew? If so, okay. But I have difficulty believing that the ancient Hebrews didn't have a W sound. The reason for this is that the Waw (Vav) character was used at times to form 'O' and 'U'. This seems reasonable considering that W, O, and U have a relationship in terms of how the mouth produces the sounds. As you are probably aware, many languages over time change the way consonants and vowels are pronounced. One such change is from the I/Y to J. This has happened in the case of Jehovah, where the original I has become J. As another example, many English words that begin with J have actually come from Latin words that began with an I. So I'm intrigued as to the statement you made. I'm not trying to cause an argument, but I simply wish to know if I've missed something here.

Lost here is a brief video about Yahweh just being the war god and a member of the Pantheon of the cannite gods. He was not chosen as the 'God' until babylonian captivity. It makes sense that a country that was positioned as a path inbetween 3 major power regions (Egypt, Greece, Persia/Babylon) would eventually turn to a war god. The Isrealites always blame the world powers taking them over because of a lack of faith in Jehovah. But if you think about it, it is more likely that they were just the Poland of the middle east and therefore easy to capture.

This video is based of of the book, A History of God by Karen Armstong

Here is a PBS video that goes into differnt aspects of the same theory that the bible was not in its current form until the Babylonian Captivity.

Click on the picture and the video will play, it is almost 2hrs long so be prepared.

Diest - thank you. yes, Your right there about Jehovah, spot on I guess, haven't looked at it, bit too busy at the moment, sorry.

Jehovah is not the One True God of the Bible and the Hebrew/Israelites.

And Jehovah does not correctly represent the Tetraggramaton.

There fore who is this Jehovah god then if he is not the One True God of the Bible. not wanting to get into debate on this, sorry. Can't be arsed. I'm just doing research with NE and Gojira and sharing info on the subject. Hence the title.

NE - HERE'S PART 2 OF 'THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD' ...is foolishness with God.

every sect or group tends to define and enforce its own sense of ''wisdom'' ( ideaology, creed, liturgy, world view etc.)

Though the LORD calls us to resist this Spirit in order to function as a true witness of His Presence (1john 2v15-17)

Living this way will invariably result in a ''collision'' with our surrounding culture as we testify that God is here now.

It is axiomatic then that the ideology and coercion of the crowd, the various forms of ''worldly wisdom''

(including religious wisdom) that seduces us to forget God's presence, invariably leads to stupidity, blindness and foolishness.

Since the grop is unable to apprehend this fact a ''debased'' mindset (''group think'') evolves that leads to depravity and the lust to control and enslave others.

''since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what not to be done'' (Rom 1v28)

the battle today, as it has always been, is to combat the world and it's wisdom (ie propoganda, lies, and disinformation)

    by witnessing to God's presence.

This is essentially a Spiritual War, since the battle field is the thickened hearts and dulled minds of those who are in varying states of blindness to the truth (2 Cor 13v5)

Are we genuinely walking in faith?

Do we experience every moment of our lives as a gift from God?

Do we directly encounter the teacher within our hearts, or are we merely imposters, or professors?

If we ask the LORD for Spiritual wisdom He has promised to gve it to us (James 1v5)

After obtaining wisdom and discernment, we must engage our culture and speak the truth in love.

Tzedek, tzedek tirdef: ''justice, justice shall you pursue'' (deut 16v20)

To be passive or to resign oneself is to abandon our post. ask the LORD for the courage to live and speak your conviction.

He is faithful and will preserve all those who call upon him in the truth.

For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favour from the LORD.
