My mom just receintly told me she was going to die in this system. All I could do was agree with her! she was Baptised in 72. Now she is 72 and going to die in this system. She gave up so much to serve the WT God!!!!

They said the rescue ship was more "probable than possible" in keeping with the WTBTS attempt at apology for 1975 debacle.
The WTBTS tried to blame the 1975 fervor on the Jw Rank and File. Really? If the WTBRS knew that the R&F were sharing these wrong beliefs amongst themselves then why did they not use the DC CA magazines to shut down this erroneous thinking?

It's a widely held opinion among dubs that the children, even if they're apostate, should take care of their parents when the parents get old and need help.
What's ironic about this is that if the adult children have left the dubs, the dubs call them apostate, vomit-slurping dogs, who merit shunning and special hatred from God. Yet the dubs will still ignore their faithful elderly, expecting the apostate dog-children to come to the rescue. I'm surprised the dubs think apostates will still have natural concern for their parents. I guess we're reprehensible only when it suits them. How very convenient for them.
This is the case of my own mother. She's almost housebound, yet receives very few visits or calls from her loving fellow dubs, let alone any kind of help. After my apostate sibs and I are done with the vomit, etc., we go over to cook, clean, do the yard work and whatever my mother needs to stay comfortable. Not too shabby for god-hating apostates, huh?

I think about that whenever I see my parents.
There are so many JWs unprepared for retirement - no pension, no savings. So many don't even have a house that they could use for a reverse mortgage to help them financially. The WTS expects them to shun family members who leave the JWs, but then think nothing of telling them to expect these same shunned family members to bail them out financially when it becomes necessary.
Oh, and don't forget to leave everything you own to the WTS!!! (hopefully a mountain of debt!!)

OMG! I just heard this from another publisher not that long ago! Goodness, this really saddens me!
Thanks Terry for the initial post. I can't tell you (or anyone else) how sad this topic is to me. I've always noticed that the WTS has never addressed this issue in any profound/direct manner because if they did, the rank-and-file would wonder if the end was really that close, and yet as you said Terry, in 1975 they were buying up property. It reminds me of the educational center that they were building in the late 80s/90s and I remember them saying that the end is very close and that the rank-and-file shouldn't assume that their building of the education center in Patterson was in any way an admission that the end is delaying.
For too long, the WTS has spoken out of both sides of its mouth - they should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. The amount of self-deception that the individual GB members have to practice on themselves is staggering! I really wish that the rank-and-file would start leaving in droves!
I implore Jehovah's Witnesses (all over the world) to start researching JWs on the internet. If you truly have an open mind, you will see what so many exJWs discovered: "The Real Truth about The (so-called) Truth". It's a real eye-opener! For the most part, you will come away saying that those doubts you suppressed was your gut trying to warn you to wake up!
When you belong to a large group of persons who see no value in THIS LIFE because only the AFTER life counts....
you get complete neglect of the HERE and NOW.
Jehovah's Witnesses despise the here and now and inadvertantly end up despising everything which makes life worth living.
Without realizing it, Jehovah's Witnesses are simply people trapped at a shabby rest stop waiting on a bus that will never arrive
living off of vending machines and hope.

a close active relative of mine who needed major dental help due to age and problems, completely broke, never prepared for retirement or anything due to reasons the OP stated, when going to the brothers for help was told they don't do that and they were encouraged to seek out the relatives they were shunning for financial help.
