  It would be a generalisation to say ALL work done on schools was overpriced or flim flam. Some would have been such as when some people hiring contractors to do renovations to their houses get rorted. Sometimes it happens but most times it doesn't. Likewise with the schools...

  Its been in all the papers mutiple times. There were honest people who told all the major networks what happened. The fact is KR was an idiot for not anticipating this and allowing it to happen. There was no attempt to make the system competitive or accountable.

  So Howard lied, that he knew about Tampa or whatever that doesnt make him responsible for their parents putting their kids on leaking unseaworthy boats. Lets be fair and point out who the real criminals in that case were.

  Exactly. Some people seem to put on their politically selective rose-coloured glasses when looking at these issues. 'Boat people' didn't magically stop coming under Howard, and there are much more complex international factors at play. Do people really imagine that asylum seekers are jumping on the internet to see which political party is in power?

  The average wage in Afganistan one of the poorest countries in the world is in the vicinity of only 100$ per year and as some have pointed out for the average person even if they have property and are in a war zone it must be difficult to organise an auction with bullets flying around and even be able to hear the amounts being offered on the said property.

  Anyone from Afganistan that comes on a boat even if they are genuine has had a privilaged lifestyle.

  I'm not interested in the Australian politics...they are the same as American and NZ politics...ALL two party systems. Same same.

  When they all get rid of the two bullsh*t parties...then we will have politics worth discussing. Until then, its a sham.

  And getting self righteous about boat people is the lowest of the low. Grow some empathy. And thank your lucky stars you live in a country where YOU don't need to do this....*yet*
