Many of you are experiencing the effects of these critical times in your personal and family life. It has become a struggle to obtain life’s basic needs. Despite these circumstances you must put the needs of others ahead of your own. Support the printing, translation, and distribution of publications by your monetary contributions. Then you will see the miracle of your bills being paid supernaturally. Your vehicles gas tank will never run out of fuel as it magically refills itself. Your refrigerator will never empty of food nor will your pantry be bare. Your government taxes will pay themselves.

See we don't really need to take care of ourselves, do we? I guess I'll just panhandle a few bucks from the local KH each month and quit my job.

I guess they finally reached that "time to suspend the publication" which is actually a wise business decision for this End of the world based printing corporation it's time to wake up and smell the coffee and pack it all in because the Internet has arrived:

    http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2007804?q=%E2%80%9Cwill+never+beg+nor+petition+men+for+support%E2%80%9D&p=par

Haggai’s words have also motivated God’s servants in more recent times during large projects related to the worship of Jehovah. In 1879 when the faithful and discreet slave class began publishing this journal, then called Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence, it contained the following statement: “‘Zion’s Watch Tower’ has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support . When He who says: ‘All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication.”

I have often wondered similiarly to what Russell said in that 1879 WT posted by Frankiespeakin -

If Jehovah is backing the organization, then certainly he could easily provide funds for it. I mean it's almighty God we are talking about here. Even if they did insist on some sort of tithing or giving for the principal of it, it certainly shouldn't have to be sent to NY. The funds should just be used around the KH or used to help the truly needy.

NY should be flush with money from Jehovah's blessing.

Someone on the board made a comment a while back about the wt's ongoing spectacular building project in NY, like ''wait and see if they don't start begging for more donations''. Yup, anonymous poster - you were spot on!

Why is there no call for them to be absolutely transparent with their financials? Other churches are, by request probably.

As an elder once told me, ''you can really tell something's not right if it's shrouded in secrecy''. He was talking about 'secret societies', but he couldn't have pegged the wtbts any better.

This isn't about printing or building kh's - it's about the cult's new deluxe compound, I'll betcha.

There is also something in place now that I'm not sure if many people know about.

They encourage congregations to keep any excess funds on deposit with the branch. They call it "Funds On Deposit". Our congregation has several thousand dollars on deposit with the branch. We only keep about 2-3k in our checking account.

The arrangement is to let them hold and use the money until if/when we need it in the future. So basically it is a no-interest loan.

That makes you wonder how many congregations have how many thousands "On Deposit" with the branches around the world?

@TTATTElder - and that money will be heavily invested for maximum interest / returns.

It would kill them if they lost their tax free status, even with all the free labour they get, but what do you expect when the only qualifications to run this 'business' are 60 hours ministry each month and subservience to the great 8.

There is usually a call out for donations at this time of the year because of the tax season. I would expect that there is a WT article also for the same reason

True but I have never seen a letter to the elders such as this regarding money. This really has to do with the Warwick , NY project and the fact that they probably aren't taking in as much from the WWW from the congregations. Back in the later 80's early 90's Patterson was VERY well funded but this probably isn't the case with Warwick. They need money, and your free labor (there was a letter regarding volunteering several weeks ago).

This week begins a new publication in the weekly 'BIBLE Study' - the brochure Who Are Doing Jehovah's Will Today?

This letter is timed to sync with the start of this 'work hard for the organization' Q&A discussion. EVERYTHING is pre-planned and carefully orchestrated to get the results the Org. needs.

The real reasons are never disclosed.

To quote George Carlin - "God needs money. A LOT of it !!!"

They must have spent the $3B from the Brooklyn HQ real estate sales already...

...either that or semi-rural gated complexes away from the prying eyes of the public are more expensive than we thought.

Having real estate for sale is not the same as having money in the bank. Even celebrities have this problem.
