    Heaven,

I'd email you but since your email is blocked I have to answer you here. The incident you refer to was when a particular poster had a pattern of editing her posts in order to add insult upon insult. I found that type of behaviour very low form, and so I commented on it.

    Judith,

Sorry your thread has been hijacked by this side topic.

If I can ask, whereabouts in Oz are you? If you're not willing to answer this here, you are more than welcome to email me. We probably know some of the same people.

Judith, I would also like to welcome you... Also, I'm posting so that I can follow up on this interesting thread.

Your story is amazing, thanks for sharing it here where all of us can benefit... I'm not a JWs, but it seems to me that you may have more than one input to give me hints about their behavior. I'm glad there are other family members you like. It must be refreshing for you.. welcome again.

    Hey Jude,

Whoops, guess yer not Anglish! Welcome to lalaland! As to your question, when I left the mudda ship I became a professed agnostic for over 15 years. Gave up looking for the "true religion" and concentrated on all kinds of other pursuits. Eventually my investigatations led me to conclude that we are not a product of many "happy accidents" and that there is a force that overcomes the second law of thermal dynamics. I reject the notion of matter being "self organizing" as a contradition to all empirical evidence. Beyond that, it gets much more complicated and, yes I have adopted a religion that is very tolerant and not limited to the christian paradigm.

    cheers, and welcome again...

    Hi Carmel

Thanks for your comments and welcome. My first instinct is to jump right into a debate about "happy accidents" and thermodynamics as I have done so many times before, but these discussions often become heated and I don't think this is correct forum - I get a real sence of live and let live here and a respect for beliefs of all kind and I would like to perpetuate these sentements. So, thanks again and I look forward to more of the same....

    Cheers
    J.

Better late than never I guess :)
If you are still reading the replies here I go :)

I became a christian and left the WT org. cuz they are not the truth.
Sincere most of the time but sincerely misled.
I have believed in God for as long as I remember but yes, there comes a time when you question what you cannot see. I was the one in our marraige that was the JW. After leaving the WT I wanted to learn about everything and make sure I was making my decision and beliefs from facts and not only feelings. I researched and came to the conclusion that the evidence supports God's existance and the God of the Bible as the truth.

My husband a bit more drasticly than myself . My husband was raised by his father a very strict atheist who thought he knew everything. He ridiculed christians. One day he got the strangest urge to visit a church. He did with his mother but didn't really get anything out of it. Time went on and he started to question if the concept of God could be disproven. Time went on. One day he went to a christian confrence/concert cuz/ he got tickets from his mom for his birthday. He observed amused as the Christians worshiped and sang and listened to the message. He couldn't help but feel the presence of something he couldn't explain. He saw the Joy in the believers. He hear the rational and powerful message. The topic of the talk after the concert was 'Heaven, Hell, and the judgements'. For and atheist you'd think this would be easily ignored but it wasn't. HE had always been plagued by a fear of death-- I guess it's natural for everyone and this made sense. Still he refused to give up being an atheist and recognize God. Months later after research and thinking himself to death he accepted God and Jesus and became a Christian. Since then (8 years ago) he has studied science, history, archeology, etc... and has only grown stronger in his faith and belief in God.

    Welcome Judith!

It's a busy place right now....busier than usual - big place - thanks to Simon!

Glad you stopped lurking and joined in - perhaps one day your husband might join you here?

Hang in there with in-laws - they're usually a bitch sooner or later. Right now, I'm on the outs with my jw in-laws. Lol, at least it's mutual shunning.
