Just out of curiosity, how many elders (current & ex) do we have here?

In for 40 yrs as of 2014, ms-pioneer-elder. I disagree with some comments about the BOE, my experience with brothers I served was they all cared for each other and truly loved the congregation and I considered them my friends and still do.
The problem is Elders are not allowed to think for themselves and use their God given gift of reason and Christ like love when dealing with problems, they can only do what they are told by CO and the borg in general following the "letter of the WT law".
They are convinced they are doing God's will and that Holy Spirit is involved and that is the only way they keep their sanity!
They were forced by CO to delete me (I manuvered this, can't give details) and it was a very emotional time for all.
I could no longer take the BS and could not teach and enforce what I did not believe, for example;
HS involved in appointments
Change on the deletions based on the "type" of porno the elder viewed (elders will understand what I'm referring to)
FS time guilt talks
status titles-Elders,MS,Pioneers etc.
never question GB and on and on, you get the idea
after deletion I really learned TTATT (mainly from JWN-JWFACTS thank you) and now have become a Deist hiding as a JW (wife is 100% JDUB)
I can't imagine how anyone can remain an elder or any position of teaching in the org. after knowing TTATT it is hard enough just being a seat warmer for the sake of family without jumping up and screaming during a meeting.
But hey that's just me to each his own.

Hey SFPW , nicely done, you had us all going then!
We DO need the devils advocate voice to be heard on heRe as it speaks what the average jdub thinks when confronted with the arguments raised on this board. The responses and counterarguments that follow could be the thing that wakes more lurkers up when they realise the preprogrammed responses we're taught simply dont cut the mustard..
Hi btw.

I was an Elder for 7 years, stepped down in '95, the elder meetings with power hungry COs made me realize it's all BULLSHIT

Company Servant, Congregation Servant, Elder. Resigned for "health and age" reasons. I should have resigned 20 years ago.
I wonder how many here remember company servants?

Ex.
It was being an elder that truly turned me off to many things within the religion. Prior to that, I was a star-struck JW who saw the organization through rose-colored classes. It was only after seeing how an elder body was just a bunch of guys trying not to screw things up did I realize what the rest of the organization was like.

My first post here at JWN. WOW. The brothers and sisters on this site overall have been a huge blessing for me. I believe most here are sincere Christians that see some serious leadership problems in the WT. I see here and know personally those who have been really hurt by org procedure.
I am a third gen JW. MS for 7 years, elder for 5. The majority of my family on all sides are elders or have been. I was a kid in 1975 (lived where the 'need was great') and clearly remember the frenzy about this system ending. I was a teen in the mid 80's and remember the 70/80 years from 1914 and the whole deal was gonna wrap. I was the WT conductor in 1995/96 when'new light' about the 1914/generation thing was discussed. I knew I shouldn't be on the stage teaching this. I stepped aside in 1997. Has been a gut wrenching experience since then. I believe the basic problem with the WT org is that theological (and even personal) opinions are to be viewed as unquestionable facts if presented in the WT. My basic thought is that to disagree is not disrespect- it's OK as long as love is shown by all. It's OK to agree to disagree. If the brothers at the top would just let go of their demand for strict adherence to all of their pronouncements that are really just their own opinions, people would be banging down the doors to go the KH. Galatians 1:6-9 kind of gets overlooked or misinterpreted. Unfortunately, there is an ever deepening hierarchy and conditional love within the org. You will not be loved if you disagree. Sorry to ramble on...again it's my first post... my head is swimming with things say.

Ex-Elder, currently MS, but I suspect that not for long. Some wheels are turning as we speak.
