Only JC experience I had as an elder was the way in which JCs were selected, an older elder ,myself and a youngish elder made sure that the composition of the committee had at least 2 of the three of us as then moderation could rule the day. Lots of work for us but few DF and sisters treated with respect, I am not perfect but many elders did try but sadly the tsunami of ignorance in the WT brushed aside moderation and courtesy. In cases involving what could be termed moral issues we had no need to probe about in people's minds to get at some point. Most people before us needed help nothing more. I was not aware then of the obsession with cult obedience in the truth and really thought JC arrangement was not just to "keep th congregation clean" but the focus on helping the so called sinner. I do not wish to appear as a saint but I thought that's what most elders did, apart from our Congs Bro Hard Nose and his friend Bro Tittle Tattle.
However all this changed when a JC from another cong dealt with a case of child abuse by an elder who had moved, and my daughter. They insist on seeing my daughter repeat the allegation in front of them AND the accused. I told them where to go. The accused was reproved not DF and was DF some time later for adultery ,what standard does that set?
Never been near since and my wife and I are riddled with guilt at trusting this "elder" to allow this to happen.

ps how do I stop iPad filling in words for me?
Put the middle of in on your knee and then push down either end until it "snaps" - voila, your iPad will stop filling in words and most other things too.
No need to thank me, you're welcome.

You always had a wicked sense of humour! Crossing the pond not dimmed it either.
PS
I did something I don't usually do, I read the book of instructions and it fine now, will leave the knee exercise for when BT Broadband fails again.

I often find myself wondering why the hell some of them feel such a need to know every lurid detail. -

Oh my god! I thought the Questions From Readers must have been a parody but I just looked it up on the JW Library and it is real. I have read a lot of wacky stuff in WT publications but that is the most unenlightened thinking I have come across. Shocking that anyone could be so ignorant. -

Re the original premise of this old thread.. I sat on many a J C , often with young women "in the chair" because of sexual offences.
Thinking back honestly, I am pleased to say that none of the J C's that I was a party to developed into what I can call inappropriate lines of questioning . One should not assume that this is going to happen.
I do recall receiving counsel at Elders Schools that it must not be allowed to happen, so I guess that they knew that it did sometimes occur, and I have no reason to doubt any personal recollections of people.
