" I have no issues with letting my wife get her way if I agree that's beneficial " - - Cofty

I suppose you keep your mouth shut if you see your wife doing something that's not for the benefit of the household, then. Let me know how that works out for both of you.

Btw, since you don't know what psychological issues affect my partner's permanent capacity for sound judgement, you better not ask what I'm afraid of.

Eden - The bible says the man is head of the wife.

The bible is wrong. Equal partnerships work best. Trust me.

I am the one who goes out and brings home the money that it takes to run a household. If my wife is not prudent we will be upside down in our finances pretty quickly. She does seem to have a spending disorder. She spends everything. When it's time to re-roof the house there is no money. When it's time to buy a new car, there is no money saved. When we get old we will be poor, very likely. She says that we will cross those bridges when we get to them and I say but it takes money to cross those bridges. No matter. No headship, no partnership, no communication. And she is the gung-ho Jehovah's Witness.

What I need to do is take charge.

The head of the house thing doesn't apply to jw's, as I have told my jw and the elder "that comment/scripture is meant for Christians and you guys aren't Christian so it it doesn't apply to you therefore you can't use it".

I was never comfortable with any of the headship thang. All persons, regardless of gender or race, are "created" equal.

My dad's second wife was a shy pioneer sister that was single at age 34 when they got married.

What a domineering head strong basket case she was! she ran the household from day one, use to hit the youngest of us with a wooden spoon

and had the elders on speed dial if my dad ever tried to step up to the plate and be a man.

something about men losing their testosterone as they get older and women gaining it.......

if you look at the root of the NT "headship" teaching I Cor. 11:3,

    The big head, god: invisible

headed by god: the Christ: invisible

head of woman: man : mostly absent (despite the name Hus-band,[ HOUSE BOUND])

so it is natural for the lady of the house, to be the smart head IN the house, the family, given all the absent, invisible, limited heads she has to deal with.

Ok, so how exactly does one pull off this 'head of the house' thing?

I asked Ang and she told me to shush 'cause Coronation Street was on ... the kids said not to interrupt their online game-playing and the dog refused to acknowledge anything I said that didn't include the word 'walk'.
