I doubt it. Common sense and logic need not apply to anything coming from the GB. All JWs walked away in tune with what he said.
At first I thought it was just a talk for Bethelites, where I would not be surprised by extreme cult-speak and crazy stuff, but when I saw it was actually a zone-visit style meeting broadcast to many congregations I was a little more surprised. I do think it is plumbing new depths for him, but I think it's been expected that they will keep tightening the screws.
He was obviously going on a total rant most of the time, spewing his own opinion and pet-hates and passing it off as "discipline from Jehovah". It looks like from reading the Italian forum that even they found it a little extreme too.
