Hilda,
You are basing your views on acceptance of WT policy based on what they tell the public in their website what that policy is. Unfortunately, that stated policy is fictitious, and more than likely will eventually be proven in a court of law when all pertinent documents are presented as evidence, i.e. "Pay Attention" book and BOE letters.
Sure, you can categorically deny the thousands of testimonies on Silentlambs and call it hearsay, and take them with a grain of salt. Just remember, the more hearsay evidence that exists from indenpendent sources, the more credible it becomes. You can surely agree this principle is precisely why many now accept the Bible for what it is, even though the original manuscripts are virtually nonexistent, because of the thousands of copies that have surfaced throughout the ages.
Sure, go ahead and presume that what is on the net is altered, prefabricated, made up, etc. Sooner or later, the WT Society is going to realize the internet is it's worst nightmare, because it will expose it for what it really is, a man made organization with man made rules, that will do anything to protect itself, i.e. "theocratic warfare". That is the biggest cop out I have ever heard of.
If you truly believe that what the Bible says about submitting to the superior authorites, then you will immediately see the WT has already breached that principle by making it a matter of choice whether or not the parents report an alleged case of child abuse to the police. It is illegal in all 50 states for parents not to report. Interesting how this is not listed in the WT website eh?
Hilda, you say the WT is not concerned with covering it's ass. Then tell me, what in the world does making a priority of contacting WT legal dept. before any action is taken have to do with the WELFARE OF THE CHILD when an allegation is first made? The point is, it has nothing to do with it. You are truly a shallow tunnel visioned person if you can't see that the first order of business will be to see if the state is a clergy reporting state or not. Of course, you won't see this either in the WT web will you? Why not Hilda?
Interesting also that the WT doesn't inform the public that 2 witnesses are required if the accused denies the allegation, otherwise no action whatsoever will be taken, despite the fact that noone as a rule in the org. are trained professionals to make such an assessment. You don't find that major policy revealing itself to the public on the WT web do you Hilda?
Then of course there is the common misconception from JW apologists such as yourself that a former molester that is an elder is stripped of all responsibilities and privileges if it is revealed that in his past he had molested kids. Again, not so. The WT policy is whether the individual is KNOWN to have been a molester. If if is general knowledge that he was, you better believe he will have every single duty stripped (CYA ONE AGAIN), but if he is not, the BOE letters clearly show privilege and responsibility will not be altered one iota if he has led an exemplary life. But again, WT leaders are not professionals, are they Hilda? This policy is not in the WT web either is it Hilda?
Any person with a reasonable education and cognitive, rationalizing skills will be able to decipher that WT policy is again not about protecting kids FOREMOST, but rather about protecting the organization. We can thank the internet for finally bringing this into the open.
This is not about some rogue elders here and there taking matters into their own hands, it's about an office in Brooklyn with some old men passing rules on for the underlings to follow at all costs. This therefore is not God's organization, for God has never instituted such convuluted policy anywhere ever in the Bible.
Open your eyes Hilda.
