Symposium: What Must Be Kept in Second Place?
We all know what the WTBTS will be discouraging..... same same every year...
Recreation Don't go away too often on weekend breaks - go easy on computer games & exercise
Eating and Drinking Don't go out too much for meals. Reduce the boozing. And don't get obese.
Concerns About Health Careful of the nutty alternative therapies. ( Bethelites & CO's & their wives especially. )
Courtship and Weddings Stop the big lavish expensive weddings.
Family Ties Shun your DF relatives - drastically limit association with the faders.
Material Pursuits Don't go to college - work less - don't get too involved in business.

“Sexually Immoral ” People (does this include pedophile elders or do they get a free pass as "glorious ones"?)
“Idolaters” (does this include the 8 million JW's who idolize the Governing Body™, while ignoring Christ, or do they get a free pass?)
“Greedy People” (does this include the real estate and equity markets empire known as the Watchtower Society, or do they get a free pass?)
“Revilers” (does this include the GB and all JWs who call people "mentally diseased", "worldly", "wicked" and "Satanic" non-JWs, or do they get a free pass?)

Those “Who Are Poor” (Luke6:20; Matthew5:3) (see, not going to college and being dead broke gets you a free pass!)
Those Who “Become as Young Children” (Matthew18:2-4) (see, being a gullible JW by listening to every word of the GB gets you a free pass!)
Those “Persecuted for Righteousness’ Sake” (Matthew5:10) (see, calling everything in life "persecution", when it's not, gets you a free pass!)
Those Who Help Christ’s Brothers (Matthew25:34) (see, giving all your time, life and money to the WT gets you a free pass!)

What makes me so tired of this all is the constant - Year text, daily text, and with this the theme text of the convention, the theme text of each day of the convention, each talk has a bible text for a theme.
So sick of this need to quote the Bible or reference it.
If something is right, it is right because it is right, not because the Bible says it is.
If something is wrong, it is wrong because it is wrong, not because the Bible says it is wrong.
I don't feel like looking each scripture up to see how it fits in with the talk.
"ACentury of Kingdom Rule Contrasted With a Century of Satan’s Rule" Satan does not rule. Satan is chaos not rulership.
But at least human rule is trying to do something. Kingdom rule is vaporware.
How Babylon the Great Has “Shut Up the Kingdom”
Huh? All religion has shut up the kingdom.
What Must Be Kept in SEcond Place? Anything not to benefit the Society.

Thanks Kneehigh this will have to go to the JW friend who has recently started writing to me. Everything else has failed, even mentioning Candace Conti. I will tell her I downloaded it straight from JW.Org which I have just checked it is very easy to do. Just put 2014 convention in the search box and the program comes straight up. That symposium on what must be kept in second place just blew me away, thanks.

Great analysis by all of you. I really thought it was a put on till I downloaded and read it. My goodness, I would kill myself if I had to sit through that. I always hated assemblies and conventions, always thought they were a "rehash" or "prehash" of stuff we hear at the KH. Thirty years later, if I was still in, well, I really would have no gray cells left!

Interesting that it has loaded meaning like all the others but in this one case they don't "announce" the loaded meaning with quotes...
