    ohh my.....

Nobody with a minimun of honesty and decency understands how they keep talking about 1914. The comparison between the rule of satan and of jesus is a stab in their own heart. The tittle 'Enter the Kingdom Maimed, Lame, or One-Eyed' is beyond me. And of course, they make sure to insert the poison in the symposium on Friday at 2, why you should do more even if you are sick, why not to talk to family members who are not JW anymore, and why you should not go to college. How can anybody have the stomach for that? I certainly did not even when I was still in.

This convention program is why I believe the GB is trolling us. It's too ridiculous, almost a spoof. I think they know the game is up and are having a little fun.

    Notice the transitional title of:

    Convention of Jehovah's Witness.

Not District or International or anything.

    Anticipate Future KingdomBlessings

    One Language

But Jehovah, the not God of confusion is the one that made many languages.

    Perfect Health

But He is the one that broke the health

    Earth’s NewRuler—WhoReallyQualifies?

As if that has never been a public talk before. Sigh.

In U K we are to have an International Convention (if they still call it that) Is this the same programme?

Notice what they say is secondary

Symposium:What Must Be Kept in SecondPlace?

    Recreation
    EatingandDrinking
    ConcernsAboutHealth
    CourtshipandWeddings
    FamilyTies
    MaterialPursuits

They target the fundamentals of life, finding a marriage partner, getting married , family life....all is secondary to one's service to the almighty WTS ! in the guise of serving God...

Did you see the unashamed beg for contributtions in the notes?

@ Bluesbrother " In U K we are to have an International Convention (if they still call it that) Is this the same programme?"

Yes, all over the world - all DCs have the same programm - no difference it is a international convention or a "normal DC".

All the conventions in the UK will be on the same dates, 22-24 August 2014, except for Coventry which is 29-31 August 2014.

I think you need a special pass to attend Coventry, I also heard there was to be a late one in Portsmouth the same week. It's for people who really cannot attend the regular convention.

"Public Bible Discourse"? In years past, they used to announce attendance numbers morning and afternoon on Sunday. Often, it would show a small decrease - which tells you that there is no public in attendance especially if a convention is held in a cult-compound assembly hall, isolated from the surrounding community.

In decades past, there were placards in store windows and actual advertising of the public talk.

The Public Discourse is a fantasy. It tells you that the GB live in a world of fiction.

In addition, I don't think highlighting the fact that their "Kingdom" has been around for 100 years is a positive idea. If your flock is feeling malaise already being reminded of how interminable the whole thing is hardly makes sense.

Was the drama was moved to Sunday afternoon, because so many came just for the drama in the morning and did not attend the afternoon.

What will they do about the lagging attendance on Friday though, considering the chastising planned for the rank and file.

Attend All Three Days: Jehovah provides an abundance of spiritual food for his people. (Isa. 25:6) This includes the spiritual banquet served at our annual conventions. It has been observed that the Friday attendance is considerably lower than that on other days. Make it your goal to enjoy all three of the refreshing convention days that Jehovah’s organization has prepared for us! If you need to request time off from your secular employment, make it a matter of prayer. Then ‘muster up boldness’ to talk with your employer as soon as the date of your convention is announced. (1 Thess. 2:2; Neh. 2:4, 5) It may prove helpful to explain to him that your annual convention is part of your worship. Doing this at an early date may make it easier for your employer to make adjustments so as to accommodate your request.

    *** km 1/00 p. 1 par. 2 Will You Be There? ***

Last year at some of the “God’s Prophetic Word” District Conventions, however, the attendance on Friday was substantially less than on Saturday and Sunday. This means that a large percentage of our brothers lost out on hearing convention parts that presented vital information about the prophetic word. They also forfeited delightful association with fellow believers.

Do Not Let Secular Work Interfere: Concern about jeopardizing one’s employment may be the reason why some did not attend on Friday. However, many Witnesses have found that their employers are willing to cooperate with them in this matter if they ask for time off well in advance. One employer was so impressed by a pioneer sister’s firm determination to attend all congregation meetings and assemblies that he spent an entire day at her convention!

4 You should not assume that your employer is not disposed to grant you time off, nor should you conclude that missing a day of the convention will not matter. With heartfelt conviction, prepare to show your employer tactfully from the Scriptures why attending the convention is an important part of your worship. (Heb. 10:24, 25) Then put your full confidence in Jehovah’s promises, recognizing that whatever you require materially will be provided if you keep spiritual needs foremost in your life.—Matt. 6:33; Heb. 13:5, 6.

    *** km 3/99 p. 3 Will You Attend? ***

Last year in the United States branch territory, the peak attendance on Friday was 233,186 less than the peak attendance on Sunday. This means that over 16 percent of the total number attending on Sunday missed about one third of the convention program. Will you arrange your affairs to be present for all three days of the 1999 convention? We hope so.
